Okay a brief history, remember Sinopharm controversy where Duterte was inoculated with its Presidential guards without our FDA approval (Sinopharm was given the go signal by WHO before SINOVAC ), while Pfizer and Moderna had been given emergency used because WHO and the American approved it. See the bias, the Sinopharm executive in disgust didn't push thru with their plan of supplying the vaccine even with the intervention of the Chinese ambassador. The Chinese gov't in turn had ordered Sinovac as a replacement. It's unfortunate because I believed of all the vaccine available Sinopharm is the best.

We were given preferential treatment for the early delivery of the vaccine by the Chinese gov't as a gesture of goodwill to President Duterte. The Chinese offer Sinopharm and Sinovac for clinical trial in August last year, the 2nd nation after UAE for Sinopharm and the 3rd for Sinovac but our FDA didn't take the offer thus the delay in our vaccination drive, we were overtaken by Cambodia and Indonesia. It is a criminal act and the head of our Health dep't and those from our FDA needed to be arrested and shot.

Due to the delay and inertia of our health institution and bureaucracy, we had to queue at the back of verryy long queue of countries wanting those vaccine. Since our health dep't prefer the western vaccine we had to bid and therefore had to pay upfront asap, since we don't have the money, we need to borrow from World Bank which quickly approve the loan with a condition that we only buy Western Vaccine and they will be the one to handle the payment. So in short the World Bank broker the deal and we never touch and saw the money...lol We had to wait until July this year for the purchase vaccine to arrive while we make do with donated Sinovac vaccine from China. Those 2,000,000 donated vaccine which arrived in march this year saves a lot of lives, me and my family are the beneficiaries, so we are thankful and grateful to China for being there in times of our greatest need.

So, based on the World Bank's condition, the PHI can only purchase Western-made vaccines?? Perhaps you meant when PHI uses the WB's loan to purchase vaccines they can only buy from West.

All the Chinese vaccines that PHI got are freebies???

If thing is like that then PHI is quite messy in Covid vaccine handling... all profits from PHI go to Western makers, China be the Samaritan -- can't even make a small profit when the Chinese vax are pretty cheap compared to Pfizer or Moderna (each is priced over $20 per vial), what an arrangement!! But it won't work like that... I mean China won't bear such role to larger extent, I don't think they wanna take such Samaritan role when the money can only flow to the West!

Anyhow, good for you and your fam to get the Sinovac. Stay healthy

@Crang bro long time no hear, it's good that your back, it was reported by the local media with a caveat of low efficacy of the vaccine , the fake news about the large Chinese militia fishing fleet operating in our economic zone and the environmental degradation in the SCS. The funny thing is that the photo of the destruction of the reef happen in Australia not in the SCS. It had become politicalized with the intention of smearing both the President and the Chinese vaccine aid effort.

Sinovac cost $14 for 2 dosage. the Cambodian got $10 so bravo Hun Shen for getting a better deal.

Thanks bro, before the vaccine arrive there is a black market for Sinovac , we can get it for $40 (Pfizer is at $100) from our Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as you can compare the price from my post above it's expensive so there is a price gouging going on. But when the donated vaccine arrive, me and my family were inoculated for free.
