@Quickie thus the propaganda of the Chinese vaccine having low efficacy, again I'm not a doctor but having read and study reports while consulting with my doctor friend I'm able to discern that the Chinese vaccine will trigger an effective respond when the body is threaten. I had seen it first hand after my sister in law was infected after 10 days of her second doses, her antibodies shoot up to 1,800 plus while my friend who had Pfizer had a breakthrough case is in the hospital for 10 days. The funny thing is He is the one bragging about Pfizer and belittling SINOVAC after we had been inoculated with it, its cruel to retort him now but all I can say is he deserved what he preached. (he is alive by the way and he is my dear friend, it's just a figure of speech)
It's good that your friend has recovered from Covid-19 virus and having to go through 10 days of not so pleasant experience despite his "Pfizer" vaccine I would hope he'd become more introspective and a little less so naive when it comes to believing the hype the west, especially the Philippines perpetual and virtual colonizer, the U.S. By any chance is your dear friend of Chinese background? Or he's of Malay (Filipino) background.

Brag it to him anyway. Let's see if his Pfizer shots can take a shot of reality (punned intended).
@Equation Sir I want to clarify it's best to be vaccinated but at least here in ASEAN we had a choice even though it comes in trickle. we're lucky we had SINOVAC asap due to west demonization of the vaccine, people were reluctant early on and we are able to scheduled a shot, but when the delta variant hit the Philippine and the reports of Pfizer doctoring its efficacy report, the deluge happen and people are lining up for Sinovac vaccine. Pfizer put a marketing blitz highlighting the popularity of their product by staging a fake or doctored event in a mall with 100 people lining up for 20 doses...lol

Preprint on the immunogenicity and safety of a homogenous booster shot of Livzon's fusion protein vaccine candidate V-01.

Shows nine fold increase in neutralizing antibodies (14 days after booster compared to 14 days after the second shot) in younger adults and six fold increase in older adults.

I think Livzon V-01 is a vaccine candidate with great potential that's flying under the media radar. Nature just ran a news article on protein based vaccines in late stage trials which missed Livzon enitrely. It's a Chinese vaccine without Western adjuvants (unlike Clover), which might explains the lack of attention.

Hoping for good phase 3 results from the Philippines trial.

China's Sinovac has produced and delivered more COVID-19 vaccines worldwide than any other supplier. Data from Airfinity showed 2.1 billion doses have been received from the pharmaceutical company. China's other major vaccine maker, Sinopharm, was the fourth biggest supplier behind AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
Not sure how it's calculated, but probably it included Sinovac and Sinopharm large local (China) population.
Then again, India population is large too.
Either way, those are good numbers.

@KYli bro see how they spin a good story to bad.

The actual story

“This is a very successful completion of contract that we have with China and this Sinovac vaccine,” said Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., vaccine czar and chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19.

“The Filipino people will always be grateful to the Chinese government and Sinovac for facilitating the continuous, and steady, and timely delivery of the life-saving vaccines,” he added.

The Sinovac shots were the first COVID-19 vaccines that arrived in the country during the onset of the pandemic last year. The arrival of 600,000 doses of vaccine donation on February 28, 2020 paved the way for the rollout of the national vaccination program in March.

But Galvez pushed through with the use of Sinovac amid heavy criticisms from several individuals and organizations if only to offer at least some form of protection to the most vulnerable sectors such as the healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

And now the Spin

However, the vaccination program had a bumpy start as vaccine hesitancy was evident among the public due to Sinovac’s lower efficacy compared to other Western-made brands.

While Sinovac-CoronaVac offered around 50 to 70 percent efficiency in preventing infections based on global studies at the time, other brands such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca from the United States and United Kingdom have over 90 percent efficiency.

The story should be all about the completion of the contract and how the Western Pharma can't meet its obligation (mind you the contract payment had been paid in advance by loan from World Bank which the bank itself paid directly to Western Pharma) ,that is the main topic and the newspaper should ask that difficult question, instead they need to spin and cover it up by reporting the low efficacy compare with the western brand.
