Other than China, other countries simply don't test every person within a single day to catch every infected person. This allows the virus to mutate and attenuate outside China and people get fed up and don't bother about it anymore after some years from now. Humans are not the master of this planet. Mother Nature is. And it does appear Mother Nature shows humanity who is boss.

Does anyone know what demographics are currently eligible for COVID vaccination in China? I've heard that in addition to under 12's, very old and very frail people in bad health are also not currently being vaccinated. Is that actual policy or just hearsay?

Many provinces and cities have allowed 3 years old and above to be vaccinated. For elderly, everyone can get vaccinated but most need to check blood pressure before vaccinating.
