I agree with Chinese CDC Chief!

'Zero COVID' isn't meant to be a permanent strategy. Lockdowns are temporary measures until everyone is vaccinated. China would not have spent tens of billions on vaccine development if it was going to lockdown forever. Vaccines aren't perfect at herd immunity or infections, but they are excellent at reducing the risk of severe disease and therefore death.

China is not locked down right now. It is only closing borders a little against foreign threats that do not have any containment strategy for COVID whatsoever. The reality is, some irresponsible countries don't care about either their own people's health or the health of others, so travelers from those countries must be put under strict management to prevent them from harming themselves or others.

You literally just created your profile to pretend ask about a Chinese born American about a documentary she just directed that has American centric narrative behind it but you'll going to assume that what? She had more access to some secret Chinese data that not even your government can obtain? You must be high on pretend ignorance. As for her history with the CPC she has made previous docs that can be seen and interpreted by the government in China as an attack on the country but that's the uniform approach by the government against what it perceives as an attack or opportunity to cause civil strife in the country. She has no connections to the CPC then or now. She's just another human rights advocate and democracy fanatic that's trying to undo all the positive things that has happened and are happening in China. I only wanted to know because I don't live in America and didn't know about the her or her history. And don't call me an ignorant or saying that i enjoy the propaganda, cause for all my life i've been speaking out against that and suffered those comments from white people.

A very nice news. I'll take "Zero Covid" strategy over "Covid Blind " strategy any day. Having the virus eventually affecting all of China is not a good strategy at all.

What I fear is new variants of the Virus affecting children. I can tolerate old people getting the ticket but not young ones. If China were to adopt a strategy of "living with the virus" then it'd find combating a new Babadook strain difficult.

Other than Yangzhou which had an malicious actor and very bad luck, this wave of delta was beaten down quite quickly and wasn't any more difficult than the outbreaks of last year such as Beijing, Harbin and Urumqi.

ZURICH (Reuters) - Lonza is investing in new drug product manufacturing capacity at its site in Guangzhou, China, the Swiss company said on Monday.
The sterile, multi-product fill and finish line is expected to be completed in 2022 and will create more than 150 jobs. Lonza, which has been making ingredients for Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, did not say how much it was spending on the Guangzhou plant.
