Biden is trying to create leverage against China for trade negotiations because Trump already expended the most useful ones. Speaking of which, did anyone else notice that the recent US China trade talks (video conference hosted by the Tai lady) coincided with the Wuhan Lab origins rehash? It didn’t receive much media coverage at all. I wonder if Biden made some concessions that would look really bad for the Democrats when it actually gets exposed.

If the British Intelligence is interested in a real Chinese conspiracy they should investigate the criminal tampering of COVID numbers in Taiwan. Apparently the Tsai government is arresting and fining people who leak videos/spread “rumors” online.
Regardless of your opinions on what actually happened in Wuhan, the fact of the matte is that the circumstances are sufficiently suspicious to convince most normal Westerners that the lab leak is what happened.
The odds of China allowing a full auditing of the WiV are zero, so this case will never be closed "officially", but that is not needed for most people.
The only question then is what will happen next. This incident will essentially finish off all of the China doves still inside the West. There is no reason for the West not to play hardball all the time.
Since soft diplomacy is out of the window, naked coercion is the best option for both China and the West. There will be a profound escalation of conflict over the next few years with violence being the only solution imo.

Damn is that really happening in Taiwan? Hospital beds on the road outside a hospital. For that to happen in Taiwan, a 'first world country' and a 'shining example' of Covid-19 control. Even for a 'Wumao' like me, it took awhile to digest that.
Is this how low Tsai and the Greens have fallen? Doing things that we only thought possible in BJP India.
I think China can allow a full audit of the WIV. China had let the WHO to visit the WIV and even allowed them collect blood-test results of the staffs there. Surely China can allow more transparency. But things have changed now, with the immense politicization of the Wuhan-lab leak theory.
So whether China would allow a full audit of the WIV would depend on who is coming to audit. If its the same good WHO scientists from the first visit, then it could happen. But if some compromised scientists or witch-hunters are coming, then China cannot allow the audit. Then yes, your scenario of a 'hung case' will happen.

The same as their forefathers in the Opium Wars demanding reparation for the drugs that would have been sold to the Chinese for gold. The difference now is the object of contention is not drugs but a virus, with both of them having been exported to China.
