Yet according to some poster here, the political structure of China is "primitive" and in some ways still retains some aspect of "feudalism." The person got this amazing research and insight from the gospel of r/China. Which is the sole reason why Chinese people from the mainland are suffering from "toxic" and "chauvinistic" nationalism. I guess us Chinese should have become Jai Hind then we get a pass on reading such moronic take on China and the insulting passive aggressive condescension about Chinese culture.

That's why Gordon Chang and Epoch Times have an audience in the US. That's why China collapse theory is so popular in Taiwan and Japan. That is why many best selling books in Japan are about the imminent collapse of China politically or economically.

On the matter of "patent waiving" here is BBC's report

Some comment from me:
Meanwhile, officials in other member states such as France and Italy gave the proposal their full backing.
In the reuters report French president did show support to the idea, but one of his officials did not and was very critical. We will have to wait and see.

The head of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations, Thomas Cueni, told the BBC's Today programme he was "deeply concerned" that "you could compromise the quality and safety of vaccines which we see now".
"It is shortages and scarcity in the supply chains, which need to be addressed. And it is also right now the disappointing unwillingness of rich countries to early share doses with the poor countries," he said.
The industry is actually saying the truth as the French official said.

But pharmaceutical companies have called the decision by the US to back the sharing of secret recipes for vaccinations shortsighted, claiming it is understanding the production process that is the real challenge. It is, they say, akin to handing out a recipe without sharing the method or the ingredients, and could lead to quality issues and less efficient production
Once again, it is production capability, not the recipe. To illustrate the argument, in a report about China's mRNA research, one of the team has a key member being the national center of nano-technology. The nano-technology is used as the carrier of mRNA particles. This is how BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are made. If patent is the blueprint of a house, the nano-technology is the concrete, steel and machinery.

I would like to make an analogue. India and South Africa have their houses burnt down. Instead of asking for tents, clothes and food they ask the blueprints of mansions from other countries. Biden knows that without concrete, steels and machines, blueprints are just a worthless paper. He is much more happier to give it than actually giving his clothes and food that he saved for his party. It also deflect the blame. Germany knows that this is just a stunt and would not give up something valuable for a stunt.

Some may say that China and Russia are also positive to the idea, that remains to be seen, don't trust English media for what they say, they may just lie abut China and Russia to press Germany. Even if it is true, China's inactivated vaccine is nothing about patent, it is 99% about production capability and extreme bio-safety standard that India and South Africa have no way to copy.

It is a stunt by India to (趁火打劫,假公济私) take advantage for its pharmaceutical industry by moral hijacking. It is a stunt by Biden to do nothing in order to gain something.

@KYli

If I read you correctly, I think you are referring to the recently shut down thread some poster here started.

It's moronic. But hardly surprising sincevir came from a poster that believes hakka could considered to be a separate group rather than Han group ( thus insulted every hakka here). Yhen he took offence and reported my reply. And the rest is history.

And now he got the audacity to start such an idiotic thread. Words fails me somerimes.

Lieutenant General
Merkel is opposing the IP waiver claiming that “The protection of intellectual property is a source of innovation and this has to remain so in the future.”. Looks like there'll be an impasse at WTO.

There's a reason Biden went ahead with this waiver. He knew that Germany would oppose it so this would never come to fruition. This way US takes the moral high ground while also satisfying its Pharma lobby.
If you really think about it, it’s pretty devious and self serving of America to make that move. The Pfizer vaccine might have an American name, but Pfizer didn’t develop it, they are licensing the rights off of BioNTech, a German company.

That means the IP wasn’t America’s to waive to being with, and Pfizer would actually benefit fantastically off any such waiver since that means they won’t have to pay BioNTech (who developed the vaccine) any more royalties to manufacture it.

This is a perfect illustration of why Democrats are so much worse for the world. At least Trump has the naive honesty to let you know he is fucking your raw. The democrats will fuck you even harder, but claim they are actually doing you a huge favour and that you should be grateful for it.

I wasn't aware that there are enough Japanese who are praying to their Shinto gods that their wish for China to collapse must come true out of fear and concern that one day, when China awakens from all it's innocence it will unleash hell upon the Yamato state as payback to what their country did to China a century ago.
