Okay, I am as impressed as anyone about China's massive renewable buildout but it still needs to be called out over this nonsense. Yes, proposals aren't the same as final decisions but still. Notice that this isn't a question about income. Most low-income countries have stopped building coal. It's not enough that the relative share is declining. The absolute amount has to decline.
While China is building more coal power plants, the coal power plant utilization rate has been going down steadily. Coal power plant utilization rate in China now is only ~50% versus over 70% back in the early/mid 2000's. Essentially, newer, cleaner and more efficient coal plants are replacing older dirtier coal plants for normal generation, with the oldest and worst coal plants being turned off almost all the time but still being kept around just in case they may be needed in special situations, e.g. severe drought shutting down hydroelectric generation (which happened last year). What really matters is not the number of coal plants, but the amount of coal consumption and CO2 emissions. Right now, it is looking like China's coal consumption and CO2 emissions have both peaked last year.

Not noting total coal projects and only new coal projects is an attempt to paint China as expanding coal capacity, not replacing old coal capacity.

The Europeans are catching on to the fact that they already lost the green Hydrogen race to China. That was fast enough.

A lot of complaining, coping and dreaming in there from the new EU trade commissioner.
This coming from "THE CHIEF ECONOMIST" of an "AWARD WINNING THINK TANK" IN EUROPE.

Who and how in the world they even won for being the best think tank when the actual economy of the E.U. has barely grown, if not has been stagnant for the past decades and now sinking.

The supposed smarty pants academic has never work an actual day in his f..ng life other than being busy trying to look like Beethoven.

In my opinion, the European elites of today have lost their sense of history, purpose, and objective of why E.U. was created to exist. It certainly was not to become just a simple appendage to the American hegemony, but rather an axis to itself.

If you look many years or a decade plus or so, there was an equivalent European company against its American counterparts. Fast forward to today, European companies that are global in reach, especially in social media landscape, e-commerce, electronics, software expertise etc..are nowhere to be found.

Now that Germany's mighty auto industry is being discombobulated due to geopolitics and the emergence of CHINA JUGGERNAUT it's best workers, namely engineers are more than likely, if not already being VACUUMED BY ITS BENEVOLENT BENEFACTOR, the U.S.A.

The story of the Marshall Plan, American effort in the European theatre have been propagandized so heavily and effectively permeated to that continents consciousness that E.U. countries have become paralyzed to do anything meaningful to challenge and fight what's fair and equitable for its own actual survival.

The story is already being weaved and disseminated that Europe's current economic, social, and political malaise are not cause by American dominance but by the corrosive and destructive relationships it had with two of the most consequential countries hell bent on destroying the current world order: Russia and China.

Russia was fostered to be a partner by E.U. especially Germany hoping that Russia will "civilized & modernize" itself in the fashion that western EU elites see fit: become a puppet to the American interests.

China is being blamed for all the ills and current economic dilemma that's gripping the economic bread basket of Europe that's Germany. Germany, Europe were more than happy, condescending, and even habitual lecturer on how China should run its country, it's economic development, industrial policies, and foreign policies. If China did actually listened to their nonsensical b.s. China would not have become the global economic threat that's about to eat the western world's breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which includes French champagne.

The European general public ever so proud of their political system and its supposed beauty, not to mention their proud cultural and sophisticated heritage are easily swayed with the China threat and now fault narrative. If one is already imbued with the sense of superiority in just everything one can think of over the Chinese and China, well then of course, their current predicament could only have been the work of those godless commies responsible for genociding its own people like the Uygurs of Xinjiang, Xizang people, and who could forget Peng Shuai.

To expect China to back off, back down from the constant negative accusations from ALL WESTERN MEDIA 24/7 is just beyond COMEDY. The fact that social media apps like Tiktok, Telegram, and X are being urged to be removed, censored, banned or else have already made their silly stance for "FREE SPEECH" laughable; thereby providing ample evidence and rationale to the governing CPC in the P.R.C. that they were right to erect the GFW and to police social media sites for the very ills those western hippos are now whining like b..es. Credit where it is due though, Sander Tordoir did admit and correct his mistake about Chinese loss-making firms when he was called out.
