Okay, I am as impressed as anyone about China's massive renewable buildout but it still needs to be called out over this nonsense. Yes, proposals aren't the same as final decisions but still. Notice that this isn't a question about income. Most low-income countries have stopped building coal. It's not enough that the relative share is declining. The absolute amount has to decline.

Ever heard of the term “base load”? Renewables are called dirty power because they are too unstable.

Building more coal for “base load” doesn’t solve anything. Renewables can be made very stable through distribution and storage, and that is happening in many countries that are building such systems.
