The funny thing is that they ruined this option for themselves by making their own games agenda embrace the most unattractive and unfun designs, art and marketing
I don't think it has dawn yet with western game journalist and outlets that at the end of the day a Chinese Game studio only really has to care for their domestic market and still make shit load of money. Kind of like what happened in Chinese movie sector.
When they say “people of color.” They really mean only black people. Asian people to them is another white person. That’s why Cleopeta is black, rewriting Japanese history to make them black, characters who use to be white decades ago are now black. Etc.

Pretty much this. American liberals have a particular obsession with black people, masculine women, and gays & lesbians. It’s not diverse unless there’s black people, masculine women, and gays & lesbians every where, this is why Black Myth Wukong isn’t “diverse” despite being Asian.
I dont think it is masculine women but poorly written stories about women who is basically a mary sue. The female protagonist breathing alone causes everyone else to fall to their knees. Then when the viewers says this is garbage. Those same people freak out about the other side of being sexism, incel, anti-feminist. When in reality, these people are terrible at writing but companies keep hiring them anyway.
