Here's a new cool animation, I seriously hope someone is secretly making a domestic Fallout-style game right now. The world needs more of these types of games. There are only 2 developers who make these types of games: Obsidian and Bethesda.

You can’t convince me that the PRC are the bad guys after going through the list of atrocities the Enclave has committed in the name of freedom and liberty.

No. Americans are fascinated with a post-apocalyptic version of their country because their society is on a path of decay. Most Chinese would not be happy with seeing their homeland destroyed, even in a game.

A Fallout game set in Japan, however, would be awesome.
The americans stories are about fall and decay, but the Chinese don't need to follow that story. It can be about hope, resilience, and rise. It can be a wonderful story that reflects our current rise from the fall but is simply put into an apocalyptic setting. We have so much history and stories that could be retold in this format, everything is set for a 10/10 game right there.

Nah post-apocalyptical games are popular in China too but people play it with special emphasis on how uplifting it would be to rebuild society after a disaster. There's a whole genre of light novel catering to this crowd called 种地文. To quote a Chinese poem someone wrote in the steam review for the game Frostpunk:

研究科技靠炼钢,发展人口靠下乡。
解决生计靠备荒,迎着风雪把歌唱:

抓革命,促生产,忠心耿耿跟着党。
高筑墙,广积粮,时刻提防伦敦帮。
木屑香,米粥强,鸡鸭鱼肉屯满仓。
偷有理,抢无罪,扔到炉里炼成钢。
你是英雄咱好汉,高炉旁边比比看。
共产主义是天堂,人民公社是桥梁。

Or someone jokingly responding to reviews like the above from the Polish developer's POV:
"我们制作游戏是让你们拷问人性,面临道德抉择的,不是让你们 来搞 “抓革命,促生产,搞好生产大自救”"

I never played Fallout, but I watched the TV show on Amazon Prime, and I got the sense that the Americans were the bad guys, while the Communists were portrayed as the good guys.
The communists weren't the good guys, nor were they the bad guys. At most, they were just an enemy that existed for the series to exist. The main bad guys of Fallout have always been the corporations (Nuka-Cola, Vault-Tec, etc..) who want to control the world and shape it to their image. The whole bombs dropping and starting MAD was their doing. Everyone else just got dragged into their man-made hell.

Frostpunk was always an interesting one with how the Chinese player base influenced the devs on how they should make the sequel. The devs said a lot of complaints about the first game from the Chinese community was there wasn't a happy ending even if you did everything right. They've changed that in the sequel now with multiple "good" endings.

Once China buys Bethesda and Obsidian from Microsoft they should make a Fallout Game set in China where you literally rebuild socialism with help from Captain Zao.

Frostpunk, just like Wandering Earth, is a different beast altogether.

Fallout, at its core, is a satire on American Capitalism and Imperialism. Setting it in China and making it hopeful would completely destroy the essence of Fallout. At this point, you'd be pissing off both fans and non-fans alike, so you're better off just creating a new IP altogether.

A Japanese Fallout, however, could retain all the elements of Fallout and would be far better received by a Chinese audience.

As a side note, it's funny how many American players of FO4 think the Brotherhood are fascists and prefer the Railroad. One faction is literally fighting off threats to humanity while the other is only interested in helping out a particular class of people that represents a tiny minority.

Agree, it wouldn't be smart to touch an American product just to change it to Chinese. Would not be received well by anyone and only cause needless drama. It's why I was hoping there be a domestic fallout-like game in production. I'm 99% sure there are or at least an idea in the making. Fingers crossed.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm not very fond of playing any setting that takes place in Japan, but that's just me. It's the main reason why I couldn't get into Sekiero or The Ghost of Tsushima even if admittedly they are good games. I'm more curious about the plot here. Are we playing as a Japanese or someone else, and if someone else, what are we doing there?

Fallout truly is a social commentary on modern-day America. ;)

Go to the comments section on Liberty Prime or Enclave video and you’ll understand why there are so many MAGAs.
