One important skill to use is right before an enemy attacks you, hit him with a light attack first, then a heavy attack when he is about to attack you. You are invulnerable during that attack.

Edit: forgot to add you only get the vulnerability if you have at least one focus point (the bottom right corner)
I think that's what they called seeing-through. Sometimes a successful execution also regenerates your health a bit but I'm not sure if it's some sort of perks I have on.

I've been relying more on this method than the original heavy attack especially against tougher enemies because it took too long to execute, especially on spell-binder mode where you can't freeze your enemies.

Also, if you have more than one focus points, you can do this twice consecutively.

Thrust stance version of see through doesn't cost focus and has a built in backwards dash that allows you to dodge most attack even if you mess up the timing. Highly recommended. It can be followed up with unique light or focus heavy attack.

Thrust stance 4 focus heavy attack also don't need any wind up if you do it after a roll if you get the end of the line perk on it's heavy attack line.

A new mech game, not Chinese but from a developer we all know about, the creators of World of Tanks. This if you like your mech combat to be more ground based.

War Robots: Frontiers also dropped a new trailer for another console test run. This from My.Games, WoT competitors. If you like your mech combat to be ground based. However these devs are also known to be pay to win but it is unclear if they will change their spots for this game.
