Apparently most gaming journalists are avoiding reviewing Marvel Rivals. They probably didn't realize how much they look like racists with their clear anti-Asian developer bias but they have to hold on to their principles by not opening themselves up to criticism by giving a review.

Wuxia action rpg with an global release on PC and PS5. Free to play in China but undetermine in global markets.

I just got an gaming pc so I can finally join in playing something :)
Seeing the stunning record of BMW concurrent players. Which kind of surprised me personally, I knew Chinese market was big but i didn't expected to be this big. So i can see why free/live service financed by cosmetics scale really well in China. Do 3~4 month seasonal content with like $10 season pass and any semi popular game will have a license to print money.

It's bigger than you think. In Q1 of 2020, the total American player base was ~27-30 million playing on PCs and Consoles and about ~150-200 million on mobile. In comparison, in Q1 2020, China had 90+ million PC players and over 500 million mobile players.

After the pandemic, the total almost doubled for both countries.

One of my favorite articles to come out of this was that CDPR, the guys behind Cyberpunk 2077, actually had a whole manual/book just to teach Polish developers how to develop and market their games to Chinese audiences. The best part is that it worked pretty well; the Chinese community widely praises the book.

Just goes to show the importance of the Chinese market.

Unfortunately, I do not but I do have this PDF of the book that they used.

It contains other Polish games such as Frostpunk which were used to show what the Chinese player base liked and disliked.

Pretty fun read overall.

The PS5 disc release of Black Myth: Wukong is only a few days away now, but to be honest I'm disappointed that the game's rendering modes on the system haven't been revised these last few months to allow for more consistent performance, let alone enhanced for PS5 Pro. I know that Game Science recently hinted that additional content for the game might be inbound, but some disclosure on the technical side would be appreciated also. Even if the disclosure is that no further revisions are planned and the current state of the game on PS5/Pro is as good as it's going to get, that's better than leaving folks wondering.

From what I've heard Game Science gave everyone a paid 2 month off soon after Wukong launch.

I saw a hilarious comment

"IGN review of Marvel Rivals: The female characters actually look like women 5/10"

Huh. Apparently, 10 million people have already tried it. Concord, Dust whatever, sitting in the dumpster bin.
