On Zhuhai airshow 2012, a Chinese UAV named Wing Loong is prepared to be displayed. What I feel funny of it is the name is
翼龙 or Wing Loong in English which means something about a dragon; however the drawing on it is an eagle.

very excited to see all the Chinese UAVs around when we have the Zhuhai airshow. It's probably the best time of the year to get their photos and gauge their progress. It seems like all the UAVs they show are for export.

If the UAV is for export, I just wonder who will be the potential customer. Small air-force won't buy UAV. If the UAV needs satellite to operate, it's almost if not impossible for China to find an export customer.

Actually I read an article that says US UAV such as predator's order are through the roof, they are having trouble keep up with the demand. Demand from both domestic and foreign buyers.

But unfortunately it seems no one wants to buy Chinese made UAV yet, probably because they have no reputation or or real operational experience with them.

I think it's quite clear it's just a UAV version of L-15.. I have no idea who would want to buy it.

Can you use it to train for carrier takeoffs and landings?

Maybe train with a land based ski jump and arresting wire complex?

Alternatively can be a low cost carrier based attack UAV, to experiment with developing more detailed requirements?

Btw is there a chance of using L-15 as carrier based training jet, or they will use JL-9, or just none at all?
