why do i have a feeling that the Chinese one is more of an operator control unit vs USA's pilot control unit

and seems both pictures are PSed by the PR department :D

I nearly ask which one's the Chinese/American :D. Then noted the USAF insigna on the monitor (of the lower photo) :p .

For the top photo (comparing it with the bottom one), why are there no throttles?

that is the main reason why i said it is more of a controller unit, the Chinese one decided to skip flight controls all together

Hi Paintgun,

Pardon me, what's the difference between a "operator controller unit" and a "pilot control unit"? What's the advantages and/or disadvantages between the two?

My knowledge of UAV are rather limited. Thanks in advance.

no, i'm no expert, just deducing from what i see, we are both the same, noticing a missing throttle there :D

IMO that would imply, without the throttle Chinese version eliminate the manual operation of UAV, since without throttle, you can not control engine throttle and airspeed, you can also notice that a set of console is missing in the middle, that is probably for flap settings for landing/takeoff and other aircraft control operations

not that it is a disadvantage of what soever, PLA probably require it in such way, also UAV operate mostly autonomously

i just call it pilot controls because USAF still call the guys operating it pilots, if not they are operators :p
