Re: JL-15 and other trainers

Correct me if I'm wrong there are only 3 other air craft in the world that are comparable to L-15

Price wise, Korean T-50 is out, it costs double the price as L-15. And Aermacchi M-346 Master being made from Yak-130 and produced in Italy won't be cheap either. That only left Yak-130 as the true competitor as L-15, as far as I can see they both have almost identical price. But question is how different are the performances between the two.

I wonder if I misunderstand you, do you mean the above 4 trainers are the best trainers in the world?

Depends on what you mean by "best". If best means being able to adapt to combat missions and be able to attain supersonic speed then yes, they would be the best. However, if your definition for best is being cheap, then no, they are not the best. Being "best" is merely a subjective term, it's up to different interpretations.

I wonder if this is a new event or the old one. Post the pix here first and will search it later.

CARACAS, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The pilot and co-pilot of a military plane ejected safely before their aircraft crashed in northeastern Venezuela on Wednesday, the national civil defense chief said.

The Venezuelan Air Force K-8 training plane crashed in Barquisimeto, capital of Lara department, about 360 km west of Caracas, at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, said Hector Vargas.

Vargas said the plane experienced mechanic problems during a training exercise.

The two pilots, who were taken to an area hospital in stable condition, ejected in time and landed safely, and the crash caused no casualties on the ground, Vargas said.

Apparently a helicopter sent after the crash happened also itself crashed, with no casualties.

So this is the second K-8 crash? Wonder it is the quality problem of the aircraft or the training/maintenance problem of the Venezuela air-force?

Certainly not JL-15.

A trainer aircraft is a trainer.. you have props and you have Jets..different levels.but still. A trainer is a trainer.

T-45 if try to be a light fighter will be suicide unless it met some real obsolete fighter..

The Goshawk is and was a trainer and was never attended to be converted for light attack or fighter missions..That's what Hornets & Super Hornets are for....The Goshawk....

.. is used for intermediate and advanced portions of the Navy/Marine Corps pilot training program for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions. The T-45A has replaced the T-2 Buckeye trainer and the TA-4 trainer with an integrated training system that includes the T-45A Goshawk aircraft, operations and instrument fighter simulators, academics, and training integration system. There are two versions of T-45 aircraft currently in operational use at this time, the T-45A and T-45C derivatives. The T-45A, which became operational in 1991, contains an analog design cockpit while the new T-45C (began delivery in December 1997) is built around a new digital "glass cockpit" design.

By the way the US Navy & USMC have a host of squadrons dedicated to training newbie pilots in both fixed wing and rotary aircraft. That's where the truely advanced (Fleet) training takes place...in the type aircraft Naval aviators will actually fly...

HS-10 was decommissioned about six months ago.
