Re: JL-15 and other trainers
If PAF gets L-15, then they will replace the FT-5 and FT-6 in the LIFT role. I don't think this means the end of the twin-seat JF-17, because this variant still has a role in terms of specialized roles. Also, the JF-17 will end up being pricier than its current cost due to the upgrades it will receive; HMD/S, IRST, IFR, AESA, etc. The twin-seat variant may be relatively expensive, and will be posited to take over specialized roles, as well as OCU.
As for K-8, I think PAF will continue inducting them as it is a good basic and intermediate jet training aircraft. In 1994, the PAF stated it had an overall requirement of 75 K-8s to replace the T-37s. It didn't reach that level because the T-37s were given the SLEP, but thus far, 39 K-8s are in service or awaiting delivery. Another 36 will definitely come by 2015 IMO.
By 2015, I think the PAF will have 75 K-8 and 25~30 L-15.
