Re: Chinese sub thread

All kinds of 091 or its mod photos(except the 1st one, not sure yet). Pay attention to the flank sonar array marks as crobato said. Some one said this kind of sonar came out pretty late, only after 1990s, anybody can confirm it?

Can anybody answer my question about whether the waters off the East Coast of Taiwan are suitable for diesel sub operation? Is it too far from China for an AIP sub to get to?

Of course.

Right from WWI, diesel subs have been ocean going, and I mean all the seven seas. I am pretty sure that after nearly a century later, their technological successors should every bit be as equal to better.

Looks like all the pictures are coming out of the woodwork now. Why now? Why didn't the pictures show up before? Is it because mainland internet forumers are intimidated to release these pictures? Fear of reprisals from authorities and forum mods? Fear of ridicule and accusation of PS?

It's on-purpose release by PLA no question about it. No individual in China will do that on internet it's the fastest way to end up in jail.

Many have this kind of photos, but to put this kind of thing to internet is not decided by those guys.

Wow, that's a step up and that's supposedly an early 093 version? When I read the forums, the usual antagonists say that the US would have tracked and trailed all the nuclear subs, especially missile boats, coming out of China. Now we see all these pics... 091G mods, several mods of the 093 apparently, and supposedly shots of the 094. Did the US know all these subs were already in the water?

Re: Chinese sub thread

Something I noticed. In the photographs of the sub without the diving planes on the sail, there seems to be a noticeable ridge along the "spine" of the sub. But in the model in post #612, the "spine" is totally smooth. Anyone else confirm this difference?

I wonder if the "spine" on this sub in the photo (above) looks more like a rounded one or an ridged one.

I noticed that too. I also explained this on the CDF. IMO, the sub without the sail planes might probably either a new class from the 93 or enhanced 93 like 93A or 93G. The original 93 is the one with the sail planes.
