The West runs on a system of evolved feudalism that is impervious to class action and revolt. Additionally, their natural resources are rich enough that their people will never be pushed to the tipping point necessary for a revolution. As a result, the actions of their elites are made completely independent of public sentiment.
The American Gen Z influenced by Chinese media may hold sympathies or jealousy for their fellow Chinese netizens, but they are not financially capable of doing anything. These young serfs are not politically relevant nor are they able to buy the next plane ticket to China. As they grow up, they will be fertile soil for neo-MAGA: because at their core they will always be geographically and culturally American.
The only thing China could benefit in is brain drain of the West, and in that field they have increasingly less to offer.

Douyin basically had to cover up its Chinese origin to gain a global market. It basically had to split its Chinese base off from its app. Americans dominate Tik Tok because Chinese were never allowed to dominate it themselves.
Remember, there were many who thought that spreading the SEZ experiment to the rest of the country would destroy it. Even more thought that WTO would be suicide for the country -- fucking Gordon Chang used exactly this as his basis for the "Coming Collapse of China."
Many thought that allowing any Chinese who wanted to study overseas to go where they want would destroy China's future by creating an uncontrollable brain drain.

China has more internet users than US, and the software/net service sectors are stronger as well.
I don't agree with dropping Chinese firewall, because it's smarter to drag in all other countries inside the firewall instead, and China apparently has the wealth capital to make this work.
But dropping the firewall is not dangerous. Rather it's just a waste opportunity to drag in many countries into a 100% Chinese ecosystem.
Who is getting corrupted faster and destroying their own protective institutions, China or US?
The funny thing is that in the books, Trisolaris which out sizes humanity innovates much slower, while in real life, China not only out sizes US but also innovates faster. So waiting 200 years on the invasion fleet was Trisolaris' anxiety and sorrow in the book, while in real life, waiting 80+ years for the Asia reclamation fleet is only improving China's position more and more.

The problem is not your average user but the advanced level of the US propaganda brainwashing system that has risen to this monstrous level thanks to constant social inner stability being dependent on it, and due to the external imperial model being dependent on it too for decades. So the US intelligence agencies have the world-leading advantage in this area. They can run those comprehensive psychological manipulation tactics with bots, and they don't even need real users. If the Chinese internet ecosystem and officials can't account for that, then they shouldn't lift the firewall. This is very dangerous stuff. We don't need this kind of risk and potential disturbance just right as China is about to deliver the finishing stab in the monster's neck too, and is about to win the future of this world and finally collapse this malicious empire for better eternity.
