Chinese Soft Power and Media Discussion and Updates

I'm a bit surprised to finally see this take.

So many people looking for proof of Beijing using TikTok for manipulation. Well, that's the thing, Beijing doesn't need TikTok to do anything for years. It only needs TikTok to function for those few weeks/months, even if means TikTok gets immediately banned afterwards.

Unlike other countries, China can easily sacrifice a company for the greater strategical gain of the nation.
I think i saw some similar takes before, abt info/psych warfare thing...

Isnt mr Fish an "anti CN consultant"?

Yang Wei has been removed from his post at AVIC. Rumors started flying a few weeks ago that he was implicated in anti-corruption investigations of the various military research institutes.
In fact, I think it's so interesting, isn't this example about soft power/ or propaganda warfare, a great entry point? Without discussing the how is Yang Wei himself doing, focus on the implications of his incident with two sides:
1, Yang Wei is just transferred/retired and it just happens to be yet another hype without official statements.
2, Yang Wei will be investigated.
Either way, we will be faced with a propaganda war from the West and the need to appease the public's reaction to it.

Don't get too caught up by what abenomics12345 posts, you can look back at the kind of stuff he posts. Sometimes he's right, but he is very defensive of his points.

It's not personal here. I'm trying to say that it's a good topic to address and deal with the impact of this kind of breaking news on the civilian population. I'm sure there's a part of the civilian population that's confused and unsettled about this event, as well as considering the propaganda war that will be waged by the Western media in the future. And given Yang Wei's fame, this is a different situation than in the past.
As well, we may see more discussions of such events in the future.

On CNN’s State of the Union with Dana Bash, incoming National Security Adviser Michael Waltz doesn’t rule out continued Chinese ownership of TikTok as long as certain "firewalls" are in place.
In light of the events of last week with TikTok and XHS I think this quote is appropriate:

It's really amazing how piercing Mao's observation was that after all these decades it's still true to the degree that quote might as well be fresh from him in the last 24 hours.

Dam Alexander Mercouris's Iron law of geopolitics still stands, as he likes to say "Don't go marching toward Moscow and don't bluff with Beijing, they will call you out."
