I'm a bit surprised to finally see this take.
So many people looking for proof of Beijing using TikTok for manipulation. Well, that's the thing, Beijing doesn't need TikTok to do anything for years. It only needs TikTok to function for those few weeks/months, even if means TikTok gets immediately banned afterwards.
Unlike other countries, China can easily sacrifice a company for the greater strategical gain of the nation.
Sure, TikTok will do whatever the Chinese government tells it to do, even when the servers are all in the US and the people that run the operations are full of American spooks. Look up the make up of the TikTok board.
