Anything special about this trimaran that suits it to being a rescue ship? Or is this a role assigned as cover to an otherwise proof-of-concept vessel?

Very fine series of pictures of Dong Jiu 335 at Huangpu (built at Guizhou, but probably completing fitting out at Guangzhou, as happened with the first ship, Bei Jiu 143).
She's powered by a pair of waterjets attached to the main hull, not the outriggers.
What is that device on her bow deck covered by a canvas sheet - a gun?
Seems to me the crew's washing will have to cleared from the deck before she can undertake any rescue missions.
Although she has a rather elaborately shaped mast, the ship's design doesn't seem to emphasize stealth as much as flexibility.

Type 022 FAC has been designed by a woman. Yang Yi was 27 years old when she became chief designer of the project Type 022 in 1997. She got a 2nd class PLA Technology Advancement Award with type 022 design.
In the last 5 years, Yang was responsible for fifty development project, completed a fifty research report and published 18 academic articles. She has recently received the distinction of "10 young PLA talents". She is currently a deputy director of PLAN's academic equipment institute.

Does Australia catamaran show a warship design of type 022 with missiles, guns and military sensor??
So you think just get an australian catamaran added some missile at the back and just wire some radar, sensor and added a machine gun on deck bow, it will become Type 022 and you think is simple like that?
Are you trying to discredit this lady effort??
Or probably you think a huge 80000 tons huge oil tanker just give it a flat top, it will be an aircraft carrier??

Nah, it just means the Australian catamaran design imported may have served as the underlying platform and this lady put in the efforts to modify, adapt, and develop the blueprints for the 022. It's not uncommon for many products to be designed with something else as a basis, inspiration, or benchmark.
Precisely but very obvious someone try to give a cheap shot as an simple cut and paste job!
Basically, I see it as tasteless move.
