Yangtze River Delta region has achieved a breakthrough in the fabrication technology of 8-inch gallium oxide single crystals using the VB method.
The Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), as one of the earliest institutions in China to engage in gallium oxide crystal research, has collaborated with FugaGallium Industry to vigorously develop and enhance three core technologies in the VB method: key equipment manufacturing, high-precision simulation, and deterministic thermal field design..
Compared with other methods, the VB method has several significant advantages in the preparation of gallium oxide crystals and
is an ideal path to achieve large-scale industrialization : the growth process does not require the use of iridium, which greatly reduces the growth cost; the temperature field is uniform and the temperature gradient is small during the growth process, making it easier to grow large-size, high-quality gallium oxide crystals; columnar crystals can be grown, which effectively improves the material preparation efficiency; and the growth process is stable, making it more suitable for automated and large-scale production.
