ByteDance's total order for Ascend chips from Huawei in 2026 could exceed 40 billion yuan. The first batch of computing chips, worth tens of billions of yuan, it is about to be delivered.

Will be interesting to know how many Chinese private companies are buying/using Ascend AI chips/ecosystem which. I believe the state owned companies are more willing and ready to do so than private companies who often compete with Huawei in some areas and who don’t regard long term national security/tech independence as important as the state.

Currently, this claim is only being made by a WeChat public account, and there are no other sources to corroborate it, so it still not clear
Yeah I thought so. I don’t think private Chinese companies are ready to stay using guéris chips en masse. They see Huawei as a potential competitor plus they still prefer to use Nvidia chips/stack if given the chance, for obvious reasons .

there is one more source reporting this news so wait for further information but this is most likely true news.

Cambricon and Huawei Ai chips have added in government procurement list from next year onward. means domestic firms have to buy certain number of Ai chips from domestic players.

Cambricon , Moore Thread and Huawei these three big players planning for mass production of its Ai chips in 2026. Moore Thread even released complete list of Ai/GPU chips.

Not all companies view Huawei as a competitor. For example, Huawei has made very little progress in LLMs, at least in the ToC segment. Most of the AI companies and labs you can name are ahead of them.

Yangtze River Delta region has achieved a breakthrough in the fabrication technology of 8-inch gallium oxide single crystals using the VB method.

The Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), as one of the earliest institutions in China to engage in gallium oxide crystal research, has collaborated with FugaGallium Industry to vigorously develop and enhance three core technologies in the VB method: key equipment manufacturing, high-precision simulation, and deterministic thermal field design..

Compared with other methods, the VB method has several significant advantages in the preparation of gallium oxide crystals and is an ideal path to achieve large-scale industrialization : the growth process does not require the use of iridium, which greatly reduces the growth cost; the temperature field is uniform and the temperature gradient is small during the growth process, making it easier to grow large-size, high-quality gallium oxide crystals; columnar crystals can be grown, which effectively improves the material preparation efficiency; and the growth process is stable, making it more suitable for automated and large-scale production.

That's pretty cool news but I wonder whether using Huawei's chips will be satisfactory for the companies buying. Nvidia is still desirable, but with the current environment I would expect more companies to be looking towards Huawei's stuff.

don't forget Cambricon and Moore Thread.. MT even released entire line up of new Ai/GPU chips just last week.
