Yes. Even as the work has become harder to hide and the circles of people involved continue expanding the frequent story whenever someone adjacent to the industry is asked is “can’t talk about it”. No one saw SiCarrier’s giant April equipment drop for example.
But at some point, the US and Europe would start to catch on right? Surely ASML and the US are aware of where China is in terms of EUV development. The information here is endless, but it's not just limited to us on the forum...

My position is that EUV is probably entering the trial stage given the quantity of information of EUV masks, photoresist, defect detection and reticle information that is coming out. They are going high, according to a "semi-authoritative" source that I posted here.

Immersion lithography scanners are already in production and they still iterating towards 7nm process nodes, I found information in a government website about ultrapure liquid filtering technology for 14nm for immersion lithography technology to be deployed this year. That I think means whatever these machines are they are being used for a 14nm process node.
What do you mean by "going high?"

I think the majority of sources here point towards some form of production in the next few years.

It'll be interesting to see when the news gets out. Sure they can hide the trials fairly easily and at some point everyone is going to realize that Chinese EUV is manufacturing chips.

Imagine thinking that westerners who have dehumanized the chinese will think of anything other than china bad, look at the cope on china collapsing for 20 years

Right, but there's a big difference between "China will take 10-15 years to develop their own EUV machine" and China being at the testing stage/nearing production of EUV. It's almost scary how out of touch they are when it comes to what China is getting up to.

US Pulls TSMC’s Waiver for China Shipments of Chip Supplies

The US has revoked Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s authorization to freely ship essential gear to its main Chinese chipmaking base, potentially curtailing its production capabilities at that older-generation facility.
The action mirrors steps the US took to revoke VEU designations for China facilities owned by Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Hynix Inc.
“TSMC has received notification from the U.S. Government that our VEU authorization for TSMC Nanjing will be revoked effective December 31, 2025,” the company said in a statement. “While we are evaluating the situation and taking appropriate measures, including communicating with the US government, we remain fully committed to ensuring the uninterrupted operation of TSMC Nanjing.”

Alibaba and ByteDance jointly invest in Xinyuan Semiconductor to accelerate ReRAM research and development

Xinyuan Semiconductor (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. had undergone a number of industrial and commercial changes, with new shareholders including Shanghai Yunye Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. and Accelerator XIII Ltd. , both subsidiaries of Alibaba's Ant Group. At the same time, the registered capital increased from approximately RMB 46.537 million to approximately RMB 50.297 million, and it is suspected that a new round of financing has been completed.

Alibaba's investment not only provides financial support for Xinyuan Semiconductor but also has the potential to significantly boost its development in areas such as virtual reality headsets. As early as the end of 2024, ByteDance's subsidiary, PICOHEART (SG) PTE.LTD., became a shareholder in Xinyuan Semiconductor, holding a 9.5% stake. A ByteDance spokesperson confirmed the news and stated that the move is intended to advance the company's technological advancement in virtual reality headsets.

Founded in 2019, Xinyuan Semiconductor specializes in the research and development of new ReRAM (resistive random access memory) storage technologies and related chip products. The company's products include high-performance industrial/automotive SoC/ASIC chips, integrated storage and computing IP and chips, and system-level memory chips. As a leading company in the commercialization of ReRAM in China, Xinyuan Semiconductor has mastered integrated closed-loop technology capabilities, covering multiple links such as device materials, process technology, chip design, IP design, and pilot production. It is worth mentioning that Xinyuan is the only company in mainland China to achieve mass production of advanced process ReRAM and is one of the fastest commercializing new memory products internationally.

Xinyuan Semiconductor's breakthrough progress in the ReRAM field, especially the innovation in its product series, has won it wide market recognition. Its storage and computing integrated ATOM product series, by integrating storage and computing units, significantly improves bandwidth, performance and energy efficiency, becoming an ideal solution for accelerating large models on the end, edge and cloud side. The embedded storage-UEM IP series and independent storage-URM product series have demonstrated excellent performance and reliability in advanced process MCU/SoC and automotive, industrial, aerospace and other fields respectively. In addition, its high-performance control unit UPC XC67 series has also performed well in the industrial automation and robotics industries.

Shaoguang Core Materials' high-precision semiconductor and high-generation FPD photomask substrate manufacturing base project has made new progress

According to the official WeChat account of Hunan Third Engineering Co., Ltd., the Shaoguang Core Material high-precision semiconductor and high-generation FPD photomask substrate manufacturing base project is currently being promoted at full speed.

Located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Yongtai Road and Da'an Road in the Jinyang New Town High-tech Zone in Liuyang City, Hunan Province, this project serves as a key supporting project for the development of the region's high-end semiconductor and display industries. Phase I of construction focuses on core production and support facilities, encompassing three frame-structured factory buildings, one power plant, and one Class A steel-structured warehouse, totaling 22,519.84 square meters. The total construction cost is 139 million yuan. Upon commissioning, the project will achieve an annual output of 40,000 high-precision semiconductor photomask substrates and 4,500 high-generation FPD photomask substrates, generating an annual output value of nearly 1 billion yuan. This will significantly advance the industrial upgrading of high-end chip and high-generation display manufacturing, contributing to Hunan's efforts to establish a globally influential advanced manufacturing hub.

If SMIC is buying the government's share in SMIC North then their financial situation should not be that bad.

I doubt that talk about low yields in the new fabs. One easy way to disprove is to compare capacity growth with revenue growth. I doubt customers would eat the cost of low yields.
Revenue is growing faster than capacity.
Higher costs due to lower yield would be reflected in reduced profit rather than revenue (SMIC also mentioned they did not raise prices); lower yield coupled with capacity growth would be reflected as increased revenue with reduced profit, which was my main takeaway from the last earnings call.
