US fines GlobalFoundries for shipping chips to sanctioned Chinese firm

I wonder how much sanctions exhaustion is affecting the employees dealing with this. Having to dig through hours and hours of export control training every quarter + vetting everything and filling out end user forms is definitely a bureaucratic slog at my company. IMO there’s only so many sanctions any country (China included) can throw up before the employees get pretty sick of dealing with the bureaucratic overhead.

It turns out its just a customer that fabs chips at GlobalFoundries using SJ Semiconductor for OSAT services.

While SJS itself was not a GlobalFoundries customer, SJS was the third-party outsource assembly and test service provider (“OSAT”) designated by a GlobalFoundries’ customer

Export controls has costed the U.S. the staggering figure of 545 BILLIONS DOLLARS from 2018-till 2023 and THESE CLOWNS STOOGES STILL COMPLAIN ABOUT TRADE DEFICITS. The next time a US politician complain about trade deficits with China this should be printed, pasted into a belt and beat the guy with it like an old school dad.

But in positive note I guess that the think tanks Humanities graduates stooges who advocated for these policies are happy that they get to keep their jobs while engineers lose theirs.

That's only the value of the denied licenses. It doesn't include the value of orders that never happened because the would be buyers/sellers know the license application will not be approved. The real cost is certainly many times greater than the value of the denied license applications.

Its even better because that's also +$500 billion that went to Chinese suppliers instead.

There are a lot of Chinese liberals and industrialists that they still do not understand the criticality of the situation, they still do not understand how the deep the stooge clown rabbit hole goes, they still have a pretty low understanding of the inner workings of that stooge infested hell-hole called Washington D.C, that when something is "bipartisan" is a coded word for endless non-negotiable absolute crap.
These stooge don't stop, they will grab themselves to even the minimal amount of hope without caring how big the losses are, see Iraq, see Afghanistan.

Exactly, is even higher, but what is really weird..and scary for US companies at least, is how they brag about it, like if it is a badge of honor to costs US companies hundred of billions and the lost of thousands of good paying jobs without any tangible "national security" benefits something that most of these stooges can't even properly define.
