Chinese semiconductor thread II

I know that few here have a digitimes subscription, but does anyone know if there was anything of substance in yesterday's article summarized as "China seems to be deliberately playing down the importance of lithography tools as it identifies the challenges for the development of its semiconductor industry in a recently published dossier." Even if true, that could have many causes.
Not sure what article you’re referring to. If you link it me or someone else might be able to help.

I'm not that all familiar with how China is developing towards its semiconductor goals while at the same time proactively avoiding US counter sanctions and black listings. I only came to be familiarized with this industry due to watching Asianometry. That being said, I was curious as to why the Asianometry guy as informed as he is responded to one youtube comment describing the current massive semiconductor r&d in China as yet again another "pyramid". Anyone more knowledgeable in this?
Asianometry is Taiwanese and pro-independence so he is a very prejudiced source.
For example, his video on EUV and synchrotrons/free electron lasers was talking about ongoing Japan and European research projects. But he didn't bother talking about any research efforts from Chinese universities, not even a throwaway line on who else is working on the technology. Guess it's not important enough to be part of the topic or he thinks it's fake news.

Really weird.
Don't think he's actually that ignorant since it's covered in English language media as well if he can't read Chinese, but sometimes, it's also what you purposely leave out that reveals your biases.
Eh I think the actual reason is that he’s just not as good as everyone thinks he is. He’s a very good information aggregator from the market/investor research side but he doesn’t actually know enough of the technical fundamentals to make sense of a leaky black box like China’s industry, and that then feeds into dismissal and complacency toward what information does get around. This is a very common problem with these investment/market research types with no technical backgrounds. Some of them have “wisened” up a bit after a bunch of ambitious rumors from 2020-22 ended up panning out, but they all started off this way when the bans first came down and this beat turned into popular topic.

I think this is as good explanation as any that we ignore Asianometry here. I deleted the other ones and I don't think we need to talk about his political views here
