you are forgetting aboutSMIC is by far the largest capex among Chinese fabs, it is unlikely other fabs in China can attribute 44% of global tools sales

Huahong : It is advancing the construction of its second 12-inch factory as planned. It will complete the construction and start trial production before the end of the year.
Q: Considering the current overcapacity situation in the market, please explain whether the company's current capital expenditure plan will be adjusted?
A: We are advancing the construction of our second 12-inch factory as planned. We will complete the construction and start trial production before the end of the year. The market is expected to recover in 2025, and we can also actively promote the ramp-up of 12-inch production capacity. In terms of capital expenditure, from a PR/PO perspective, the capital expenditure for the three 8-inch fabs this year is about US$200-300 million, and the new 12-inch fab is about US$2 billion, mainly for the construction of factory facilities and the first phase of about 40,000 pieces. Equipment investment in production capacity.
Huahong also spending huge amount of money..you are forgetting about
Samsung, SK & TSMC in China
Also CXMT and YMTC both spending a whole lot of money this year, probably in the same magnitude as SMIC

complete waste of time for this kind of articles to be posted.
They have no idea what localization rate is at the moment.
What the heck are you talking about?
Nikkei is clueless and they interview with these people who don't even follow EV supply chain in China to make comments. What does that tell you?
Thats exactly what I was trying to say! SMIC procures these equipments for supposedly its 28nm and above fabs but secretly transfers them to the SMSC Fab. Thats why Dylan wrote an article in SemiAnalysis and you can Imagine he's fuming that SMIC is able to cut through the US sanctions to make Kirin9000sHuahong also spending huge amount of money..
our point of discussion was SMIC shanghai Finfet capable fab.. they are blacklisted and cannot procure equipment from KLA, LAM and others since october 2022.. so SMIC shanghai fab likely to get most of Non-Litho equipment from domestic players.
its not like that. KLA/LAM and AMAT cannot sale 14nm and below capable tools to SMIC .. so if SMIC buys anything from them, those tools are mostly for 28nm and above capable.. October 2022 sanctions blocked everything even service , repair..Thats exactly what I was trying to say! I don't think you understand the situation that SMIC is in, everytime Huawei appears in the MSM news SMIC is in the same paragraph, the scrutiny that they are receiving is a the highest level. Given that they are now political hot potato I have my doubts that they received licenses from commerce to buy US made tool. My guest most of the tools that they are buying are mostly China made tools, from SEA, Europe and Japan.Thats exactly what I was trying to say!
