Please see if you can post this article. Since It was expected to open Q12024 its interesting to see how much WPM the brand new fab will add to the 7/5nm process node

Sure.

Avoiding posting the article directly into the forums due to potential copyright issues. Digitimes says it adds 100K wpm of 28nm and larger. No mention of 5nm or 7nm capacity.

If there are any other paywalls you're having issues with besides Digitimes I may be able to help as well.

This Nikkei report states government nudging to get localization rate to 20-25%.

I am really surprised the localization rate currently is only 10%. I thought EV semiconductors would already be localized by now. What are China's alternatives to Infineon, Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics, NXP and Renesas?

Having the tech and having the capacity are two different things. Foundries don't pop up overnight. There's a lot of capacity under construction, but it won't come online for awhile.

complete waste of time for this kind of articles to be posted.
They have no idea what localization rate is at the moment.

What the heck are you talking about?

Nikkei is clueless and they interview with these people who don't even follow EV supply chain in China to make comments. What does that tell you?

Cologne Technology Semiconductor Electronic Chemicals Project

It is reported that Zhuhai Kelong Technology Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chengdu Kelong Chemical Co., Ltd. and a supporting enterprise of Zhuhai Jishi Technology Co., Ltd. The semiconductor electronic chemicals project it invests is located in Hualian San, Fine Chemical Industry Zone, Zhuhai Economic Development Zone Southeast side of the road and southwest side of Langshan Road. The project covers an area of 30,676.06 square meters and a construction area of 25,216.63 square meters. The total investment is 200 million yuan, and the annual output value will be approximately 500 million yuan after the project is completed and reaches capacity.

Pi Yuwen of Zhuhai Kelong Technology Co., Ltd. said that the main products of the project started this time are 55 G3 or above electronic grade chemicals and 16 kinds of etching liquid products. Since the project was negotiated, it has been successfully signed and implemented with the strong support of the Zhuhai Economic Development Zone Management Committee and the district’s functional departments, and all work has been advanced in an orderly manner.

With the transformation of my country's economic structure and the adjustment of industrial structure, the new generation of electronic information technology industry represented by integrated circuits has become a strategic industry of the national economy. A number of integrated circuit manufacturing companies and integrated circuit upstream and downstream supporting companies, such as Jingwang Electronics, Xingsen Semiconductor, and Maxdu, gathered in the Zhuhai Economic Development Zone, are becoming the "new force" in Zhuhai's development of new productivity.

More info from TechInsights regarding Pura 70

Huawei’s flagship Pura 70 smartphone has highest ratio yet of China-made components as firm seeks tech self-sufficiency

Foreign components still used in the phones include DDR5 memory from SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics. SK Hynix’s memory chips appear in the standard Pura 70 and 70 Pro, whereas Samsung’s chips were found in the 70 Pro Plus and Ultra. On the standard model, 33 of 69 electronic components that TechInsights analysed were sourced from Chinese manufacturers, and only 5 sourced from non-Chinese suppliers. Other components are still under investigation.
The Pura 70 Ultra appears to only use memory from Yangtze Memory Technologies Corporation (YMTC), China’s top NAND memory maker, which is also under US sanctions.
On the Pura 70 Pro Plus, which has the most populated main board, 22 components were sourced from Chinese manufacturers, with 3 from non-Chinese suppliers, TechInsights data showed. Another 52 other components are still under investigation.
TechInsights identified the 512-gigabit NAND die embedded in Pura 70 Ultra as YMTC’s 128-Layer 3D NAND, while the 1-terabit NAND die is the company’s 232-Layer 3D NAND, YMTC’s most advanced NAND memory.

Honghu Semiconductor Headquarters Base Construction Starts!

The first phase of Xianggaoxin Digital Manufacturing Factory is located south of Taiyang Road and west of Chengyue Road in Xiangcheng High-tech Zone (Yuanhe Street), within the Yuanhe Science and Technology Park area, with a total investment of approximately 800 million yuan. The project covers an area of about 30 acres, with a total construction area of about 85,000 square meters. The construction content includes 3 factories and 1 supporting building.

The start of construction of Honghu Semiconductor's new base would not be possible without the firm support of government units and colleagues in the industry. We will live up to expectations, accelerate the pace of localization, and continue to provide efficient and stable semiconductor automatic transmission solutions!

Honghu Semiconductor was established in Suzhou in 2016. It is a national high-tech enterprise specializing in the R&D and manufacturing of semiconductor wafer transfer automation equipment and committed to the localization of wafer transfer equipment and core components . It has obtained the national-level Specialty and Special New "Small It has been recognized as a "Giant" enterprise , belongs to Suzhou City's "Unicorn" cultivation enterprise, and has been selected into the Suzhou City Gazelle Program , with nearly 200 independent intellectual property rights .

The equipment front-end module (EFEM), wafer rewinder (Sorter), vacuum transfer platform (VTM), vacuum cleaning robot (VTM-Robot), atmosphere cleaning robot (ATM-Robot) , etc. independently developed by the company have been widely used in The front, middle and back end of semiconductor integrated circuit manufacturing. At the same time, it also provides industry-leading refurbishment and maintenance technical services for semiconductor wafer handling arms, and trading services for consumables and accessories.
