This is more a case of the commercialization of EUV lithography in China.

the reality China has been patterning wafers using Laser Tin Plasma EUV radiation since 2017, testing EUV sources since 2002.

View attachment 128561

The more advanced prototype is coming online soon, this new model will be closer to commercialization than the previous ones with the capabilities of a commercial step and scan lithography machines.

They also using Synchrotron EUV for quite some time.

And if SSMB comes online... Is game over.
I saw this construction of a SSMB-EUV on youtube, can anyone tell me if its genuine.

Huawei before the ban was notoriously international -- as it should -- at the time. It went for best in class, what nearly killed it was HiSilicon using TSMC exclusively.

This is the great gift of the ban to China.

That said, without the ban, Huawei would have been a much more dominant global behemoth than today. It was number 1 in cellphones with the Kirin being on the cutting edge until the kneecapping. But it would suppliers in the West, Japan and Korea. Its chips would have been more than likely made only in Taiwan.

Today, to get back to that position Huawei would be doing it with a completely Chinese supply chain.
It should have been? Anyway, the Cassandras were calling on China to be able to produce any product worth producing in China long before Trump's trade war even began. It comes as no surprise that the United States has tried to cut off China absolutely from getting access to any and all sorts of high and cutting technology that it seeks to and it will continue to do so until everything is exhausted.

Jingce Electronics: Sufficient semiconductor orders on hand, strategic layout in advanced packaging field

The semiconductor field has seen high revenue growth and sufficient orders on hand. In 2023, the company's semiconductor revenue will be 395 million yuan, +116% year-on-year. In 24Q1, the company achieved semiconductor revenue of 130 million yuan, +96% year-on-year. As of April 22, 2024, the company's orders on hand in the semiconductor field were 1.602 billion yuan, a significant increase compared with the same period last year. The company is one of the leading companies in domestic semiconductor testing equipment and has sufficient orders on hand. With the expansion of domestic wafer fabs, , coupled with the increasing demand for localization, the company's semiconductor business is expected to maintain rapid growth.

----

Jingce Electronics' products for semiconductor front-end measurement equipment include film thickness measurement systems, optical critical dimension measurement systems, electron beam defect detection systems, semiconductor silicon wafer stress measurement equipment, and bright-field optical defect detection equipment . product.

1. Film thickness series products, OCD equipment, and electron beam equipment have obtained bulk orders from many domestic customers.

2. Semiconductor silicon wafer stress measurement equipment has also received repeated orders from customers;

3. The first set of brightfield optical defect detection equipment has been delivered and accepted, and orders for more advanced processes have been obtained;

4. Other reserved products such as graphic dark field defect detection equipment are currently in the process of research and development, certification and expansion.

The company has made , and has obvious technological and product advantages compared with domestic peers. At present, the company's core products cover 1xnm and above processes. Advanced process film thickness products, OCD equipment and electric beam defect review equipment have received orders from leading customers . As the process becomes more and more advanced and the number of process links continues to increase, the industry develops. Higher requirements have been put forward for the level of process control, and the demand for testing equipment and measuring equipment during the manufacturing process will double.

Yes, at that time when that avenue was open, there was no reason Huawei should not take full advantage of it as a private company. Huawei was and is not an SOE.

It could not have reached its position depending on a Chinese supply chain at that time. You can't plant a seed in untilled soil and expect to grow there as well as land that was prepared for years.

Huawei grew on a foreign supply chain when it had to and re-pointed to a domestic one when it had to. There is a season for everything. Dropping the foreign supply chain too early simply extends the ban further back in time.

Yes, if there were no ban Huawei might continue to grow on a foreign supply chain. That is the gift of the tech war.

HarmonyOS might never have survived to production without the tech war. We should look back on this in five years with hindsight. By then we'll be in a world with a fully-fledged Chinese operating system and Chinese app store and software eco-system. That'll be bigger than all the fabs stuff -- which to be honest are just means to an end.

Without the tech war, Android, IOS and Windows would dominate China ad nauseum. That changed with this "gift."

Hopefully this will create a massive demand for software engineers in China and enable creation of millions of new upper middle income jobs. There should be less excess supply of software engineers in China spilling over to the US in the future.

Sanctions and Tech war probably the biggest gift Chinese ever received from United states..

US actions literally transformed Chinese tech industry and society.. China now have bunch of Billions RMB worth semi equipment companies. many soon will transform into Billion+ dollars worth companies .. unprecedented if we see where was China in 2018-19.

China did more breakthrough in last 5 years what they did in last 2 decades..

industralization of IP in China exceed 50 percent ..jpg

this one probably the biggest accomplishment of Chinese high tech companies.. industrialization of patents/research papers/breakthrough reached at 51 percent .. and continue to increase. this accelerate after trade and tech war.

i remember, in 2015-16, this percentage merely was 12 to 15 percent..
