If they do massive tech layoffs this year I’ve got a backup plan. I may not be top notch but at least I’ve got legit clean room experience a decade ago, an EE degree from a highly ranked Engineering school, and operational experience of expensive equipment like electron microscopes. All of which beats burger flipping in my humble opinion.
That's nice but the burger flipper said he'll do the job for $10/hr less with no benefits. The company is optimizing cost centers and has decided to pursue other options at this time.

Puzhao Materials received Series A financing to accelerate the localization process of key photomask materials

The National Research Fund and Shenzhen Venture Capital jointly led the Series A financing of Hunan Puzhao Information Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as: Puzhao Materials) to provide financial support for its construction of a new generation mask substrate production line and accelerate the integration of integrated circuits. and the localization process of photomasks and mask substrates, important materials in the upstream of the flat panel display industry.

Information from the National Research Fund shows that this investment in Puzhao Materials will help it build a new generation of production lines and effectively enhance the supply capacity and market competitiveness of Puzhao Materials in the field of high-precision, high-generation mask substrates.

According to the official website of Puzhao Materials, the company is currently the only professional manufacturer in China engaged in the research, development, production and sales of high-precision photomask base materials (smooth chromium plates). Puzhao Materials was founded in August 2003 and is located in Lugu, Changsha National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. It is controlled by Hunan Electronic Information Industry Group Co., Ltd., and the ultimate controlling entity is Hunan Xiangtou Holding Group Co., Ltd. A production line capable of producing sputtering uniform chromium plates of various specifications from 75×75mm to 700×800mm has been built. The products are widely used in new flat panel display devices, integrated circuits, fine optics, circuit boards, micro-nano processing, laser anti-counterfeiting and other industries. photomask production.

Talent pool to draw from for semiconductor factory technicians in the US are fastfood workers.
I'll say it again - working in semiconductor in the US is not for everyone. Need science or engineering degree, yet still have to do physical labor, and get paid 30-50% less than software. Many of the job ads I see are associate+experience or BS in engineering for technicians (so essentially, BS in engineering), BS+experience or MS/PHD for actual engineers. I cannot see how 10 day training is enough even for a janitor here.

Speaking of janitors:
In the meantime, he said he's still working at Taco Bell but that he's optimistic about his career path. He said he's about to begin custodian training at a local high school in the coming weeks. If all goes well, he said, this will turn into his primary gig in the short term.

The market share of the semiconductor business has increased, and Shanghai Xinyang’s net profit in 2023 is expected to increase by 200.56%-238.13%

Shanghai Xinyang released its 2023 performance forecast. It is estimated that the net profit attributable to the parent company in 2023 will be 160 million yuan - 180 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 200.56% - 238.13%; after deducting non-net profit, it is 120 million yuan - 140 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.52%-25.44%.

Shanghai Xinyang pointed out that operating income is expected to increase year-on-year in 2023. Among them, due to factors such as the continuous enrichment of semiconductor business product types, continuous optimization of structure, continuous strengthening of market development efforts, and continuous increase in the number of customer orders, the market share of the company's semiconductor business continued to increase, and operating income increased year-on-year. As for the coatings segment business, affected by unfavorable factors such as the sluggish market environment in the construction industry and the sharp drop in selling prices of coatings products, the operating income of the coatings business segment dropped significantly.

Non-net profit increased by 7.52%-25.44% year-on-year, mainly due to the growth in sales of the semiconductor business segment, especially the increase in sales of key process chemical materials for wafer manufacturing. However, the overall decline in the coatings business affected the company's overall sales and profit growth.

Wanrun Co., Ltd. will achieve a net profit of 721 million yuan to 793 million yuan in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 0-10%.

Wanrun Co., Ltd. released its 2023 annual performance forecast, stating that the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies is expected to be 721.315 million yuan-793.4465 million yuan, an increase of 0%-10% over the same period last year; it is expected to deduct Net profit after non-recurring gains and losses was 714.4853 million yuan – 785.9338 million yuan, an increase of 0%-10% over the same period last year.
Regarding performance growth, Wanrun Co., Ltd. stated that during the year, the company overcame the impact of shrinking downstream demand for MP antigen detection products, strengthened the development of domestic and foreign markets, continued to develop and optimize process routes, and continued to implement cost reduction and efficiency increases, thereby improving overall profitability. .
It is also understood that Wanrun Co., Ltd.’s “65-ton annual photoresist resin series product project” has been put into use and can provide photoresist resin materials for semiconductors according to customer needs.
Wanrun Co., Ltd. once stated that the company's semiconductor materials business as a whole is developing well, and its goal is to become a solid backing for the global semiconductor manufacturing materials industry. The company's current related products in the field of semiconductor manufacturing materials mainly include photoresist monomers, photoresist resins, photoacid generators, and cleaning agent additives in the semiconductor process. The downstream market development work continues to promote domestic and foreign semiconductors. Provide product and technical support for the development of manufacturing materials industry.

Looks like they are having really trouble hiring people.

I dont know what job a 10 day training guy can do in a fab that cannot be automated and some of these guys have almost zero knowledge in Electric Engineering, fabrication tools parts maintenance, chemical and process control, I would understand hiring technicians or trading school graduates but my guess is that the training mostly includes "green light good, red light bad"

For example TSMC Dresden program is basically two months of training.

And SMIC is basically 1-6 months,

Microguide Nano's first ALD automotive chip packaging equipment shipped to European head customer.

Recently, the ALD mass production equipment innovatively developed by Microguide Nano was successfully shipped to a leading chip manufacturing customer in Europe, dedicated to the production and manufacturing of its new automotive chips. It has once again realized the reverse export of domestic high-end equipment overseas, marking the promotion of ALD technology by Micro Guide Nano. New breakthroughs have been made in applications in emerging industries, adding new impetus to the company's globalization and diversified development layout. New automotive chips have huge market potential, but at the same time they have extremely high performance and quality requirements. Microconductor works closely with customers on product and process development. After nearly three years of hard work, the new automotive chip using Microconductor ALD technology has passed various stringent test requirements, effectively improving chip performance, enhancing device stability, and extending chip use. longevity, enabling electronic products to adapt to more complex and changeable application scenarios. At the same time, micro-guided innovative technology has successfully solved various problems in mass production and met the strict cost requirements of mass production.
