Sino Nitride successfully developed China’s first 8 inch single crystal GaN substrate with their in-house HVPE tools. GaN on GaN as a concept is nice but difficult because large GaN substrates are extremely difficult to grow
My impression is that GaN-on-GaN is really difficult. Which gets to the question of what exactly is its advantage over other higher cost GaN types like GaN-on-Sic or GaN-on-Diamond.

Yeah seems Chinese companies are uniquely allergic to mergers compared to other countries. Very few successful mergers to create a giant has been seen this past decades. Only state owned companies do this more and that’s only when the government force things through as they have more control over SOE , but for private companies it’s hardly ever the case
Chinese in general have very strong entrepreneurial sprit. Rather being a manager of Huawei or BYD, they will rather be a boss in their own companies no matter how small, even if it is just a food store.

The Alashan MPCVD superhard new materials project, with a total investment of 3 billion yuan, has commenced construction.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Alashan MPCVD superhard new materials project was officially held in the Alashan High-tech Industrial Development Zone. Invested and constructed by Inner Mongolia Chenqiong Superhard New Materials Co., Ltd., this project is a key initiative for the local government to focus on high-end manufacturing and promote industrial upgrading.

The project is expected to have a total investment of 3 billion yuan and plans to produce more than 6 million carats of high-end lab-grown diamonds and functional diamond products annually. Once fully operational, the output value is expected to be close to 2 billion yuan.
According to the construction plan, the first phase of the project will be completed and put into operation before the end of 2026.

The diamond material involved in this project is known as the "king of new materials." It has excellent properties in mechanical and electrical aspects, as well as super corrosion resistance. It is widely used in many high-end fields such as machinery manufacturing, aerospace, and jewelry. MPCVD is a method for preparing diamond. Diamonds produced by this method have high purity and good crystal quality. It is the optimal technical route for the production of electronic-grade diamonds and plays an irreplaceable role in strategic emerging industries such as new energy and next-generation information technology.

Sifangda: Capable of mass-producing 12-inch diamond substrates

Sifangda (300179) recently responded to questions raised by investors on its investor relations platform.Investor

Question : Company Secretary, Moore's Law for semiconductor materials states that the higher the integration level (below 2 nanometers), the greater the device power, making thermal management particularly important. Diamond has unparalleled thermal conductivity. Does the company have any products related to this? Or are you considering increasing your development efforts in this area?

Sifangda's reply: Hello, diamond has advantages such as a large bandgap, high breakdown field strength, and high thermal conductivity, and can be used in optical windows, chip heat sinks, semiconductors, and power devices. Our company is a domestic CVD diamond manufacturer with significant equipment scale advantages, possessing proprietary MPCVD synthesis and processing equipment technology and CVD diamond growth process technology. Currently, we have the relevant production capacity for mass production of large-size (12-inch) diamond substrates and thin films. The company will continue to monitor relevant market opportunities; please refer to publicly disclosed information for specific details. Thank you for your interest in our company!

Chipsys' GalaxSim emulator has been ranked among the top-rated domestic EDA tools.

Chipsys' GalaxSim emulator has been ranked among the top domestic EDA tools in China’s first user-driven "Domestic EDA Tool Reputation Ranking" campaign by China Electronics News. The recognition is based on real-user feedback and highlights GalaxSim's strong reputation for being easy to use, user-friendly, and high-performing.

Since its launch in 2021, GalaxSim has been adopted by leading institutions including the Chinese Academy of Sciences Semiconductor, ZTE Microelectronics, Nuclei Technology, and Black Sesame Technologies. Its latest version, GalaxSim Turbo 3.0, boosts verification efficiency for RISC-V processors (e.g., OpenChip "Xiangshan" Kunming Lake architecture) by nearly three times, thanks to its dual-event and cycle-driven simulation engines.

Key advantages over traditional tools like Verilator include:
  • Full support for Verilog/SystemVerilog syntax, including SVA and Functional Coverage
  • One-click test case switching
  • User-friendly Testbench porting with reduced maintenance costs
  • Dynamic thread management at runtime (vs. fixed threads in Verilator)
  • High parallel efficiency and intelligent resource allocation
  • Faster, integrated debugging via parallel waveform download in XEDB format
Xinhuazhang Technology (GalaxSim’s developer), co-CEO Xie Zhonghui, emphasized that user-centric design and trust-building are essential for domestic EDA growth. In October 2025, Xinhuazhang will open GalaxSim to Chinese chip startups, enabling them to directly use the tool in development—cutting R&D cycles and accelerating innovation.

This move supports China’s goal of achieving independent control and sustainable advancement in semiconductor technology.
