What is going on with SMEE releasing DUV litho Machine by 2023? Any update on that? Or are they delayed?
Unfortunately, China has gone into hiding pretty much everything until it's completely ready. Look at Huawei's Kirin 9000s chip. It's being produced in massive numbers meaning that SMIC has a pretty good yield rate. That didn't happen overnight. SMIC must have been working on it's yield with Huawei until they were absolutely sure they could mass produce it even with new sanctions.

So whatever SMEE is doing, we're not going to hear about it until it's already in production lines and pushing out chips. This is so the US has no way of knowing or predicting what to try to do next. If everything you do is already mass production levels, then all the US can do is try to figure out what to do after the fact. If you announce things before they're at that level, the US can try to do things to hurt you.

So, unfortunately, China has necessarily gone into hiding what they do. We won't be sure until they're already in mass production. But I would take heart. If China says they're getting ready for SMEE mass production at the end of the year, which they did, we will likely see it go into mass production at the end of the year if not early 2024.

While I appreciate Tokenanalyst's comments, it might be better to preface some of them to note that they are quite old. For example "The project has be launched in Hangzhou Integrated Circuit Industrial Park in 2022." Most readers follow this site for updates on China's semiconductor progress, and eighteen month old articles do not reflect changes to China's position. My apologies if this point has been raised by others.
Many players and developments are quite young so we may had miss some developments that happened for example in 2021-2022 that are pretty important but to avoid double posting I use the search function quite often.

Another thing is that this thread is not just good to see the progress of China semiconductor industry but could be also used a sort of map to understand China semiconductor supply chain and its future, considering that many people come to this thread ignorant of China semiconductor supply chain and start commenting about the things they read in Western media or by think tankers about China semiconductor situation, it just easier to point an answer with a simple search.

I also don't post many findings older than 3 or 4 months unless I consider is very important for this thread.

Annual output is 40,000 pieces! Another high-purity quartz crucible production project was put into operation

November 26, the product roll-off ceremony of Meishan Herun New Material Technology Co., Ltd.'s high-purity quartz crucible project with an annual output of 40,000 units was held in the Danling County Economic Development Zone. This is the city's first high -purity quartz crucible project to be put into production. The pure quartz crucible production project also further improved the solar photovoltaic industry chain in Danling County.

Quartz crucible is a container made of high-purity quartz. It is an indispensable and important support material for the photovoltaic industry and semiconductors. It is a key component of photovoltaic single crystal furnaces. As a consumable vessel, it can support solar and semiconductor users in continuous drawing under high temperature conditions. Large-diameter single crystal silicon is used to contain molten silicon and make ingots required for subsequent processes. Quartz crucible has the advantages of high purity, strong temperature resistance, large size, high precision, good heat preservation, energy saving, and stable quality. It is increasingly used in fields such as solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing. It is understood that Meishan Herun New Material Technology Co., Ltd. focuses on the manufacturing and research and development of solar-grade and semiconductor-grade quartz crucibles, and is committed to the development of the photovoltaic industry.

The Meishan Herun New Material Technology quartz crucible manufacturing project invested 200 million yuan to set up 4 quartz crucible automated production lines. It purchases high-purity quartz sand through batching, molding, arc melting, grinding, cutting, cleaning, pickling and high-temperature drying. Process production of quartz crucibles. After the project is completed, it will be able to form an annual production capacity of 40,000 quartz crucible products of various types such as 32-42 inches. After reaching production, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of 1.5 billion yuan. After it is put into operation, it will match the production capacity of 32GW of photovoltaic rods, helping Dan The photovoltaic industry in Lengxian County is moving towards the fast lane of chain development. It is said that the company has received a long-term order from a domestic first-tier monocrystalline silicon customer for 1,000 high-purity quartz crucibles per month.

This wasn't the first collaboration between Huawei's HiSilicon and SMIC. They had already produced the Kirin 710A SoC in SMIC's 14nm FinFET process way back. But yeah a lot of people didn't expect SMIC to be able to get the 7nm process production ready given their tool constraints.

Hainan Hangxin was completed and put into operation with an investment of 2.1 billion yuan in the first phase

On November 28, the Hainan Hangxin High-tech Industrial Park project (hereinafter referred to as: Hainan Hangxin), with semiconductor chips as its leading industry, was completed and put into production in Haikou. On the same day, Shanghai Jita Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Jita") signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hainan Hangxin project party .

Hainan State-owned Assets News shows that in the view of Dr. Zhang Rujing, founder and general consultant of Hainan Hangxin Project, under the CIDM model, companies involved in chip design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, etc. can not only share resources, but also effectively reduce risks. .

Relying on the CIDM model, the first batch of products has been completed and tested at Hainan Hangxin and sent to customer companies for terminal verification. According to the relevant person in charge of Hainan Hangxin High-tech Industry Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hainan Hangxin Group), the Hainan Hangxin project has invested 2.1 billion yuan in the first phase and plans to build 20 production lines, including 10 semiconductor power module production lines. and 10 chip packaging and testing production lines. “It is expected that our second production line will be put into production before the Spring Festival this year.”

According to reports, the project was invested and constructed by Hainan Hangxin High-tech Industry Group Co., Ltd. Since the project was signed, construction started immediately after the project was acquired, and it was completed and put into production within 18 months. The products produced by the industrial park are mainly used in markets such as new energy vehicles, energy storage, photovoltaic wind power generation, and industrial control. The completion and commissioning of the project will effectively enhance Haikou's scientific and technological innovation capabilities, promote industrial optimization and upgrading, and attract more high-tech talents to develop and start businesses in Haikou.

They developed those chips using what was available and cheap at the time of development. A510 may not have fit those conditions. Now that they have more money, let's see if they can develop more advanced chips.

Anyways, BYD semi development. Developed their own audio amplifying chip and they have actually quite a few fabs around the country now. Latest one to open is in Shaoxing.

BYD audiophile equipment when?

I think we will know after IPO. I wonder how long does it take for smee to get in stock exchange?

Roughly a year on average depending on the exchange from filing to approval on the stock exchange. IPO information may be available earlier but the stock exchange could be in late 2024 to early 2025.
