hi weig2000

From my understanding , Ericsson source most of its parts from Chinese tech company and Australia from its own dismay learned about it only recently.. LOL.... ;)

The CCP knows the trade off, most Western vendor had manufacturing plant and also source their parts in China, It is foolish to ban them only to hurt yourself, they also provide new tech and force local company to innovate more to compete.

Both Nokia and Ericsson have large divisions in China, employing a lot of people. There have been some (maybe informal) agreements between Europe and China that China would give both of them certain market shares in exchange for Huawei & ZTE to have access in Europe. It's also good to maintain a healthy competition. I think it's likely to remain so for the time being.

Nokia, however, has failed to get any 5G contracts so far in China, for technical reasons.

Both manufacture part of their equipment in China.

So you never actually can completely get away from 'Made in China' on your 5G.

The Aussies are slower to realize these situations.

China's first university dedicated to training of IC talent officially established-cnTechPost

On October 22, the Nanjing Integrated Circuit University, China's first university dedicated to the training of integrated circuit talent, was officially established in Nanjing.
The university is not a traditional one, but more like an open platform to connect universities and companies, an important supplement to university education, and an important source of talent for enterprises.

Compared to other universities, Nanjing Integrated Circuit University is different in terms of building body, orientation, student source, faculty, curriculum, and graduation certificate.

Nanjing Integrated Circuit University is not organized by the Chinese Ministry of Education or the provincial or municipal education authorities, but by the Jiangbei New District Administrative Committee in response to the needs of local industrial development.
Unlike other universities, which are academically oriented and focus on the transfer of theoretical knowledge, this university is a talent cultivation organization, which is skill-oriented and focuses on practical training and teaching, cultivating industrial talents with practical abilities and professional skills.

The students of the school are no longer high school students who enter the school through university entrance examinations, but students with basic professional knowledge from colleges and universities, interdisciplinary students who are interested in working on integrated circuits, and junior staff recruited from enterprises who are still in the training period.

The teachers here come more from senior engineers, domestic and foreign industry experts and universities with high academic level.
The course is not like the standardized curriculum approved by the education department, but rather is personalized, based on students' weaknesses and the job skills demanded by enterprises, and the final certificate obtained by students is the certificate of completion after practical assessment and certification.

Didn't they already realize that with their 4G equipment?

Hi Peter2018,

Its not the Chinese made parts that is their main concern, its the technology.

4G tech is mostly patented by the west, and only recently did they decided to collectively ban because majority of the 5G tech is patented by Chinese company particularly HW. So Ericsson may need to buy and use some part to complete the network from HW and ZTE? Since I'm not a techie guy I may need some expert to corroborate.
