@WTAN thanks and again sorry for being a nuisance, is there any collaboration between SMEE and CETC? If CETC had develop an ION IMPLANTER surely they may had consult SMEE?
I dont believe there is any direct collaboration between both parties and they might become competitors in the future.
But i think they might work together in Associations like the 02 Special Project or the EUV Alliance to ensure that the CETC equipment like Ion Implanter is compatible with the SMEE DUV.

Yes from what I am seeing CETC seems much more capable than SMEE.

By the way, do you have any statistics regarding the kinds and different values of semiconductors China imports?

For example, how much it imports for 65nm and up (+), 45-65nm, 28-45nm, 14-28nm, and 14 and down (-).

I think this kind of data can show a better view of China's semiconductor industry. Because we dont know where most of the money is going for chip imports. Is it for advanced or matures nodes?
Have to do some research on this one. Will let you know.

Cetc 2021 production roadmap

Cetc production of lithography equipmnent in 2021 is 20 sets including 2 machines for 65nm and rest of 18 for 0.13um, 0.35um. 65nm probably for logic, but majority of them are for power semiconductor such as IGBT , bipolar technology for power management.

The only thing I like to see from WTAN is SMEE dry DUV 65nm past track records. Huawei 45nm using that or cetc's ?? I have not found any info on that. SMEE 90nm is rather poor based on customer feedback. It got discarded.
The SMEE 90nm DUVL is a learning step for SMEE.
Its their first product released when local FABs prefered foreign equipment. Local FABs didnt want to spend the money verifying the local equipment.
It is costly to verify.
They did sell some 90nm units but most of their DUVLs were used in Advanced Packaging where they gained market share of 80% locally and 40% overseas.
So they did do well in that area.
The SMEE 65nm DUVL just started mass production and i think there were some sales made to YMTC? Must find the article.
Generally SMEE and CETC DUVLs use the same parts and suppliers.
These two are just the integrators.
The quality of the DUVL will improve as once it is put into production, the bugs can be sorted out and improvements made.
There must be some sort of demand from FABs for CETC to start mass production of DUVLs.
Huawei most likely uses the SMEE product as ICRD is verifying the SMEE DUVL.

More detail about the CETC Ion Implanter this time from Global Times.

So they had develop one in 2017 maybe not at 28nm, so this new Ion implanters is an improvement?

China’s ion implanters reach 28-nm chipmaking capacity, break bottleneck

China's domestic-made ion implanters can now produce 28-nanometer chip wafers, breaking a bottleneck in the nation's chip sector amid a technology stand-off with the US.

According to a statement from China Electronics Technology Group Corp (CETGC) sent to the Global Times, the development will help China achieve self-efficiency in chipmaking and ease the pressure from a technology block by the US.

An ion implanter is a key device used in the process of chipmaking. CETGC said that it has achieved high-speed wafer transmission and independently developed all ranges of ion implanter applications.

"Ion implanters are an important part of the chipmaking process, and they can facilitate the mask aligners to make wafers," Geng Bo, a vice secretary-general of the China Solid State Lighting Alliance, a semiconductor industry association, told the Global Times.

According to Geng, China did not have its first ion implanter until 2017, and the development of ion implanters covering 28-nm wafers is a crucial step in the advance of chipmaking technologies.

Under the impact of geopolitics, especially the threat of technology cut-offs from the US, the Chinese government, investors and companies are all actively promoting chip localization to secure supply chains.

"China will for sure increase investments in semiconductors and import more chipmaking machines to strengthen its capacity to produce chips," Lin Meibing, chief analyst of Wit Display, told the Global Times.

Last year, China imported 11,619 devices and machines to produce semiconductors at a cost of $13.66 billion, according to customs data. The value of imports grew 31.2 percent compared with 2019.

The government has designated self-reliance in technology as a strategic goal, and it aims to realize a chipset self-sufficiency rate of 70 percent by 2025, media reported.

South Korea's downplaying of the "China threat" narrative which has been peddled by two visiting senior US envoys, while opting for nuclear and ballistic missile issues in the Korean Peninsula as priority in the two country's joint statement, shows Seoul's rationality in dealing with Washington, analysts said.

The statement was released Thursday following a meeting between South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and Minister of National Defense Suh Wook, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Seoul. And throughout the document, China was not mentioned - in contrast to what Chinese observers deemed the

between Washington and Tokyo that explicitly promoted a political agenda of containing China, released a day earlier.

Instead, South Korea and the US said in the statement that the Korean Peninsula nuclear and ballistic missile issues are a priority for the alliance, and reaffirmed a shared commitment to address these issues, according to the full text published by South Korea's Yonhap News Agency on Thursday.

The statement also highlighted carrying on efforts toward the transition of the wartime Operational Control and deepening cooperation across a range of areas including trade, health, nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear energy, COVID-19, combating the climate crisis, space and cybersecurity.

Da Zhigang, chief expert at the Northeast Asian Strategic Studies Institute, told the Global Times on Thursday that he welcomes South Korea' rational stance shown in the document, and believes it would contribute to the continuity of the benign interaction between Beijing and Seoul amid the COVID-19 pandemic since last year.

Different than Japan's stance, Seoul refraining from openly provoking China is out of consideration of its own geopolitical interests, which also benefits the Korean people, Zheng Jiyong, director of the Center for Korean Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, told the Global Times on Thursday.

"It is not hard to understand such differences between Seoul and Tokyo." Zheng explained that South Korea has a deeper reliance on China in many fields including economic recovery, coronavirus battle and Korean Peninsula nuclear issues, which do not allow it to overly tilt toward either side between China and the US.

However, analysts said their optimism remained cautious, since US Secretary of Defense Austin did talk ill about China in Seoul right after arriving in Seoul on Wednesday afternoon during exchanges with his South Korean counterpart, although Wook did not mirror Austin's remarks.

Unlike the previous Trump administration that would keep bullying its allies to the corner until it gets what it wants, Biden's team knows how to play the long game, Da noted.

Talks on sensitive topics, especially in the defense sector such as the additional deployment of a THAAD battery in South Korea, could have taken place, and one may only find the outcomes of these under-the-table talks from the US envoys' releases after they return to the US, analysts said.

Right after the part on prioritizing nuclear and ballistic missile issues in the Korean Peninsula, the statement read that "The Ministers and Secretaries affirmed the importance of South Korea-US-Japan trilateral cooperation and pledged to continue promoting mutually beneficial, forward-looking cooperation to promote peace, security and prosperity in the region."

Reading between the lines, Da said, the US may elevate Japan's say over the issue while downplaying China's, which is a shift from a traditional six-party talks mechanism, or even from the four-way mechanism of China, North Korea, the US and South Korea. And such a political agenda clearly aims to dwarf China's weight in the game.

The long-existing anti-America sentiments in the South Korean society were also seen on Thursday with people disapproving the country joining the US' chariot and serving its geopolitical goals.

Holding signs with Blinken's profile and his mouth red-crossed, a few protesters from a local civil organization gathered against the visit of Blinken and Austin outside South Korea's Foreign Ministry in Seoul on Thursday morning, local media reported.

According to reports, the rally protested a range of issues, such as Seoul's participation in the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, also known as Quad, and a cost-sharing agreement for US forces based in South Korea, as well as to urge a halt in sanctions on North Korea.

S.Korea has tremendous innovation capacity but it is hamstrung by its small domestic market.
If S.Korea gets closer to and finally integrates with China's economy and technology then it turbocharged both China's and S.Korea's economies growth

Very good choice for S.Korea if true, of course we already had some hints when they released their defence (?) white paper where they showed a negative change towards Japan.

China should handsomely reward S.Korea and make it an example of good relations.
First stop is to finally have a peace declaration between North & South Korea.

However the problem is that the US will constantly try to sabotage this reapproachment
