Btw @tphuang I do not appreciate you deleting my last message. You can give me a strike or a ban for talking back on this one but insofar as the point was raised about how we should think about R&D resources and how systems level reliability engineering works and is managed in hardware outfits I think it’s rather misleading to let stand the impression that all systems level reliability design should be thought of and observed the same way. It is my professional opinion (given that the topic we’re discussing happens to be the actual engineering domain I work in) that you are actively encouraging a misunderstanding of how this stuff works for different engineering disciplines than the ones you’re familiar with, and this runs counter to the supposed purpose of this thread, which is to promote a more educated understanding of these topical domains.
I'm sure you do not appreciate it. People rarely appreciate it when their post gets deleted. But the discussion itself was just going back and forth and going nowhere. And it really was no longer on topic. If you want to discuss system level reliability engineering, you can post on a separate thread for that. You posted a lot of good stuff. I'm sure people will have no issue accepting your beliefs. Extra back and forth will not change that.

Remember, I already gave the order to end the conversation and you chose to ignore it. I don't see what other choice you left me. Please respect moderator decisions to move on.

Huawei must be tired trying to carry every facet of domestic tech development...
i listened to Carfans yesterday talking about fallouts from nvidia ban. Basically, they said that everyone agreed Huawei will win out big time from this, but that they deserve all the profits they get from it, because otherwise Chinese progress will be stalled. I would say Huawei was tired, but now they will just keep winning. They are going to build statues for US politicians on the Huawei campus

Any ways, here are different Huawei Atlas products. A lot of focus will be here given the recent transactions. Keep in mind for AI training, you want to focus on Atlas 900 clusters at the bottom.

A lot of nonsense in there from Greg Allen. & Patel, let's ignore that.

There is an interesting part to it. Looks like the Japanese export controls aren't as tight as one might expect
A Japanese official told Nikkei Asia that Japan does not have the authority to ban shipment to any specific country, and the new export controls it introduced are "a checklist, not a ban list."

"If it is not for military or defense uses, it's likely that we will grant licenses. In fact, many licenses have already been granted," the official said.

Japan -- home to chip tool suppliers such as Tokyo Electron, Nikon and Desco -- has been the top source of China's semiconductor equipment imports since 2019, according to China's General Administration of Customs. Such imports from the Netherlands also have been on the rise since 2020. ASML and compatriot ASM are the dominant makers of lithography and atomic layer deposition equipment, which are essential for advanced chipmaking.
