I personally don't think EUV is a economically as this writer say it is, the throughput is still not there, everything else in the supply chain cost much than traditional lithography, still multi-patterning is required and maintenance cost are higher. I could make sense for "2nm and 3nm" process nodes because overlay issues but ASML solved that with their 2100i scanner.
Samsung and TSMC made that huge EUV investment expecting a long list of clients willing to pay premium but US politicians took the revenue from them.
EUV is used where the economics of it makes sense. People don't just arbitrarily adopt EUV over DUVi for kicks and giggles.

China bester group kneels down to Huawei and pledges its allegiance. I'm only mildly joking here, but this is first case of current Nvidia customer (a major one) being forced to go completely to Huawei technology.

We will see how long those jokesters are Tencent & Bytedance last.

Where's SMIC getting the photoresists for all the 9000S chips?
probably from Japan..

if i m not wrong, recently Japan restrict Photoresists sales to China..

in December 2020, Nata Opto-Electronic announced breakthrough in photoresists in 90-nm, 14-nm and even 7-nm technology nodes. but since then we didn't hear any news.

ArF photoresist plays a protective role against corrosion during the lithography of integrated circuits and it needs to be of high quality. The material can be applied in 90-nm, 14-nm and even 7-nm technology nodes. It can be used to make a wide range of semiconductors, including logic chips, artificial intelligence chips, fifth-generation wireless network chips, large-capacity memory chips and cloud computing chips, the firm said.

Nata Opto-Electronic has invested CNY656 million (USD100.2 million) in the research and development of its own photoresist products. It is aiming to produce 25 tons of ArF photoresist by the end of next year from its plant in Ningbo.

I do agree but there is also what I could call the "early adoption syndrome" where every company just blindly race to be the first to implement out of fear of be left behind.
I still think EUV and its supply chain will get there just it looks like there are some bumps in the beginning of the road.

i don't believe there is any restrictions.

However, it is China's interest and SMIC's interest to incorporate domestic Arfi photoresists into their processes as quickly as possible. Makes sense to look at all the weaker points in supply chain and help them ramp up production

doesn't really matter. They are in trouble.

What happened to Biren technology. Do they have an actual product that people can buy? I remember they could not release their product before the last year's ban came out. What happened to them afterwards?

i've written about this several times on this thread. I would really appreciate it if people can search biren. There is a function for that you know
