Huawei receives automotive electrical process certification-cnTechPost

Chinese technology giant Huawei has received the highest level of Automotive Electrical Process Certification (ISO 26262 ASIL D) from certification service provider SGS, making it the first company in China to receive the certificate.
The ISO 26262:2018 standard is a globally recognized automotive functional safety standard that includes specifications for automotive hardware development, semiconductor chips, and in-vehicle electrical and electronic devices, as well as digital and analog components, programmable logic devices (PLDs), multi-core processors, and sensors.
Huawei was the first to receive functional safety certification (ISO 26262 ASIL-D) in May 2020 for its Autonomous Driving Operating System (including virtualization mechanisms), which is based on the Harmony system as the core.
The system has received the highest level of information security certification (CC EAL 5+) in the Security domain in September 2019, marking Huawei's self-driving OS kernel as the industry's first commercial OS kernel with dual high certifications in Security and Safety.
Recently, Huawei's patents related to autonomous driving have also been approved. This means that Huawei's research and development in the field of autonomous driving has shown good results and is expected to announce its own autonomous driving solution in the future.

That is the way to go Huawei It is futile trying to dam a raging river you dam here it will flow around the dam . They blocked smart phone now Huawei turn its attention to become the enabler of autonomous driving. In effect becoming the Robert Bosch of smart car of the new era which probably offer more reward, profit and growth than cell phone in the long run. Imagine millions of smart car and Huawei provide the brain and nerve of the car that cost more than just thousand or two. Typical of swift decision making and very flexible which is the hall mark of Chinese business style

Yep, key in tech industry is knowing to pivot.

Also, every time there is a challenge, new opportunities arise. Just look at how Intel's x86 patent turned out for them. Now they behind Apple and AMD in IC design and behind Sammy and TSMC in manufacturing.

If anything Huawei will come out stronger after of all of this.

@localizer

You sum it up very well, Huawei know that chip production is their weakness , while waiting for a solution they had leverage their 5G advantages and diversify so that when their actual FAB is up and running they had complete the chain. Samsung as it stand now had a complete IDM on semiconductor sector. But Huawei if its FAB ambition had been achieve will be more formidable cause it has a HARMONY OS to power those devices and may include the auto sector, AI and cloud.
