Japan finally released rules last week touted as aligning with US export controls released last year @

. But Japanese rule did not mention China, and was far from a complete mirroring of the US controls. What is going on here? Well, its complicated. A thread.
Chinese semiconductor firms have been stockpiling tools + materials in anticipation of the Japanese export controls. Interestingly, one Chinese fab official noted that “the 23 devices were basically what we expected, and we thought there would be more equipment exports affected.” A Japanese semiconductor equipment distributor, who did not want to be named, indicated his firm had rushed to ship orders to Chinese fab customers in anticipation of the ban coming into effect in the second half of the year.

Why does the immersion type produce 55nm? This can be done by the dry type, right? Isn't the immersion type the worst and 45nm?

Because the quality of immersion is better, Huahong and TSMC use immersion to make

Even the best dry ArF systems cannot do 55nm in a single pass I think. Also most are only capable of 65nm.

money is not the problem
money is not the problem

you seriously think, central government can't throw few Billions. DUVi mass production is the matter of life and death. SMEE has full backing of Shanghai government. i m very closely following the Shanghai government roadmap related to semiconductor development.

''Shanghai government will build five industrial clusters, covering health, intelligence, semiconductor, space and materials, that will strive to achieve an output value of CNY1 trillion by 2030.''

what @european_guy said, is absolutely spot on.
Like I always say, crying babies get milk.

This is totally retarded. They should provide funding for SMEE to develop dual stage KrF and dry ArF systems, as well as vastly expand immersion ArF capacity. And the whole thing about waiting for the prototype to be fully tested before building the facilities, this needs to stop, they are adding long delays in the process and we are way past the time for doing business like this. It can take up to two years to build a factory, I mean the shell, just build the shell and put whatever tools needs to be put there once you have the design validated.

500 million yuan is 73 million dollars. To stop the progress of Chinese semi industry because of a pittance like this is myopic to the extreme.
This is not the gigantic fab with clean rooms. It doesn’t take 2 years to build.

From internet. Luckily Dutch government didn't ban the 1980i.

The production capacity is far from enough,
A line with a monthly production capacity of 20,000 pieces requires 8 wet DUVs, 6 ARF dry DUVs, and 1 KRF
A line with a monthly production capacity of 10,000 pieces requires 4 wet DUVs, 3 ARF dry DUVs, and 1 KRF
Now a new factory generally starts with a monthly production capacity of 100,000 pieces, requiring 80 wet DUVs, 60 dry DUVs, and 10 KRFs.

Road side news regarding Huawei Kunpeng cpu

In addition, the domestically produced 930 already exists, but the low-key one is called 920a; the quantity is not large, and there is no large-scale public sale
