China graphics chip maker Biren Technology laid off a third of its employees ?

Biren is a very promising startup. After three years of stealth mode, they just come out with two world-class GPUs. Now you're telling me they're laying off one-third of their staff due to some temporary production constraint? It's not like they will lose access to 7nm fab capacity forever. Are they suffering from lack of funding as a start-up? Do they have a lot of pressure to make a profit in the short term?

Either Biren founders are a bunch of retarded or, the Taipei Times people are.

I agree it would make no sense...unless this people are also US passport holders. Many Biren employees are ex-NVIDIA, so this may be the case. But of course they have not been fired, they just decided to quit.

Anyhow there is no source on this. The above article does not refer to any source, so it is just noise at the moment.

Pressure is on Europe now. Litho is the key.

"The allies have cooperated on restricting exports to Moscow since President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, and the Biden administration is exploring using some of the same information sharing and enforcement coordination to reinforce its own bilateral restrictions on exports to China"

This makes no sense at all! With Russia there is an ongoing war, not with China. Beside, sanctions today have a very bad name here in Europe, the majority of people in many countries are not happy with them.

I consider this article just rubbish, not the first case from Bloomberg.

Regarding ASML ban, US has to negotiate with Holland government. EU can not decide instead of Holland and cannot force Holland in any way. Who thinks this, has absolutely no idea how EU works.
