Some updated info on the continued growth of power chip fabs.
Silan Micro recently announced that it is currently capable of producing over 40k auto modules per month (I assume that's 1 module per car). They will soon be able to raise that to 70 to 80k a month (I believe they have been adding 12-inch capacity for this). By next year, they will be able to supply 150 to 200k per month.
Customers include BYD, Geely, Leapmotor, Huawei and others. BYD will buy everything Silan can produce. They have order for 80 to 100k modules per month. Many customers, including Huawei, are chasing production from Silan.
More from CR Micros.
They are cooperating with Geely for power chips and intelligent sensors. Aside from Geely, they also have cooperation with other car factories and industries. Chongqing 12-inch fab to start production later this year. 8 inch fab is still under construction.
In the first 3 quarter of this year, their IGBT sales have grown 168.5% over previous year (overall, it's only up like 10%).
StarPower: it's earnings grew 116%. A lot of demand for its IGBT.
CRRC. IGBT and IC sales surpassed 1.29 billion RMB. up 77% YoY.
Just seems to be a market with unlimited demand right now.
In first 3 quarters of this year.
Infineon sold 886k modules
BYD sold 724k modules
StarPower sold 543k modules
CRRC sold 411K
St Micros sold 320k (a lot from Tesla)
Onsemi 203k
Bosch 147k
Looks like those Silan and CR Micro capacity won't show up until next year.
