This is from June and Guowang optical is said to only have its new production base ready by 2023. Do they have somewhere else that they are already producing optical systems for lithography machines?
Beijing E-Town bought CNEPO in 2018??? and renamed Guowang optical along with RS-Laser to mass produce high precision optical components and subsystems for dry lithography, immersion lithography and metrology systems. CNEPO already has production facilities. E-town plans to expand to increase that production to next level.

Good article.

A few interesting points.

1. NAURA’s etching tool already use in 5nm production line. (Where???)
2. Not much effect from “American ban”. Majority of R&D are localized.
3. Domestic equipment still need to cover many niche area, especially in advanced nodes.
4. Short term solution is to source from non America companies.
5. The major bottleneck is, DUVi.

Man it just gives me hopium from thinking how amazing China itself would be with an EUV machine.

Guowang has a R&D center in Changchun. After government injected multi billions capital into this company, they build a new production line in Beijing.

They are in the process of validation.

A 5nm node has many layers, way too many, from the most critical to the less critical ones, they may use AMEC, lam research, TEL, Naura, CETC to even PNCS wet etching tanks for making those layers, in this case they are using Naura for the most critical ones.

That is the problem with this new sanctions for US companies, because a lot of tools are used between multiple nodes in different layers, even older tools there where not designed at first for below 7nm nodes.

Yes, China now has a fully localised production line for 28nm ICs.
The SMEE 28nm Litho will be mass produced from the beginning of next year.
The Covid lockdowns delayed many things but the suppliers have been expanding production facilities to meet the demand for next year.
The success of ICRD in trialing the fully localised 14nm production line is significant.
It will mean a fully localised production line for 14nm ICs can be developed rapidly if required.
Also bear in mind that much of the equipment for 14nm production can also be used for 7nm production with minimal changes involved.
Here China has killed 2 birds with one stone.
Expect fully localised 7nm production to follow quite soon after.
Is there any known client of SMEE which has already received and deployed front end 28nm lithography equipment and is producing 28nm chips on a regular basis? I am referrring to actual chip production, not packaging.

AMEC announced their Q3 earnings.
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
profits up 123.91% vs a year ago and revenue up 45.9%
Etching equipment revenue up 41.96% and MOCVD up 73.89%

More importantly, their order book is growing faster than their sales. So, plenty of room for increased production.

Marvel is leaving China

This is a huge change since they had close to 1000 employees in China, including 800 in Shanghai. Imo, all the American semiconductor companies will have to close up shop over the next year in China. After all, how can they survive just on non-Chinese orders? That will be a huge injection of talent to their Chinese competitors.

Wuxi MotionSilicon has passed the German TUV ISO 26262 standard for auto chip meeting the highest level ASIL-D standard.
I think Chinese auto chips are going proliferate in European market soon.

finally a little more details on YMTC's new TiPlus7100 product. There is no indication that they are going to be having any production issues.

“This is not about the economic destruction of China... We’re not looking at a decoupling, that’s not where our focus is.” Solely about “national security.” lol
The guy said it that he didn't coordinate with his trade counterpart. So if members here are confused why BIS looks like destroying US tool makers revenue, etc. There you have it.
