More will probably come out on this but apparently MLCommons tested results with a lot of new Hardware and both BR100 with Inspur server and Alibaba's Panjiu server were tested.
Now, I have to say that I don't quite understand what this is showing so far. BR104 did have the highest number for offline samples in the two columns that were listed. I'm guessing that's the measurement to use? So from what I can see, even 8 BR104 is better than 8 A100. So 8 BR100 will be 3 or 4 times as good and about same as H100.
If you click on the open tab, you will see the number for Panjiu/Yitian-710. They are not showing the highest numbers, but the other ones use AI accelerators. So, Panjiu did very well for a non AI server chip that does not use AI accelerators.
but seeing a post on this
The Biren BR100 “BR104-300W PCIe” made an appearance on the list in an
server. The 8x PCIe solution looks as though it is going to end up somewhere between the NVIDIA A100 and H100 which is quite amazing for a first GPU-architecture accelerator. It makes one wonder a bit how Biren was able to do this so quickly versus companies like AMD and Intel.
seems like some people are already getting concerned
Jack Dongarra, a distinguished professor of computer science who helps lead the Top500 ranking of the fastest supercomputers says he’s seen this scenario play out before. “The U.S. embargoed Intel chips from going to specific places in China that are and were developing high performance computers,” he said. “The result was that China designed its chips for its supercomputers.”
Again, this is aimed at AI clouds (hence cooperation with Baidu Cloud and China Mobile) and private data centers (hence cooperation with Inspur and ping an)
Biren, founded by alumni of Chinese tech giant Alibaba and Nvidia, has publicly said it would focus on selling its BR100 chip to private data center and cloud customers
Again, the test result is with BR104 (because that's the only one they have in production and testing with customers right now). Inspur AI accelerator card with 8x BR100 should be able to double these numbers.
