New iPhone 14 suppliers, I meant iPhone CCP

NAND Storage -> YMTC
Camera -> Sunny Optical
Power management IC -> SG Micro
Screen -> BOE

Pretty much everything high tech other than the SoC is Chinese tech.

I wonder if it has anything to do with keeping cost down. China is getting plenty of cheap energy from Russia. Meanwhile, the others in their home country has shoot themselves in the foot a couple times.

In the case of NAND at least YMTC probably offers the best product in terms of performance at this point. The way the cell architecture works means you get more bandwidth out of a chip.

And let us not ignore here that you still do not see Chinese camera sensors, antenna chips, and other components in that phone. I think over the next two years we will see Chinese camera sensors go up in a big way, given the past posts with regards to fab construction here. With regards to antenna chips, who knows.

Its about politics too. You get billions and billions of profits from Chinese people every year but you don't want to develop and use components from local industry??

Take your bags, grab a ticket to New York and off you go!

Made 2025 is the number 1 strategic priority for China for the past almost 10 years. Whatever foreign company deviates from this policy will get the boot

It has something to do with the fact that Chinese products, manufacturing and technology are superior.

It’s amusing that the “made in 2025” became a self fulfilling prophecy. If the US didn’t react in the way it did then the progression on the “made in 2025” would still be woefully inadequate due to complacency.

I doubt it with regards to RAM. Some vendors are already using EUV in their chips and the only Chinese vendor, CXMT, has basically no DDR5 at this time. CXMT also simply does not have the same breadth of product as other main vendors. For example no GDDR or HBM.

US and China are going toward decoupling in semiconductors....Apple anticipated everybody and it's already there. ;)

A Chinese version for Chinese market, a Chinese-free version for US and western market and an open-ended story for the rest of the world (probably it will end up Chinese in few years from now due to better costs).

Smart move by Apple that is trying to have his cake and eat it too.
