At the beginning of 2006, an anonymous user posted an article on the Chinese internet forum

Looks like you are exposed, Bro
I am sure your uncle must be proud of you and your friend visitors as trolls.
Good job!

I am done conversation with you and your troll buddies.

:D

Where was I wrong?? It appears your stupidity has been exposed. I want to play this out slowly.

Come on please show me where you've exposed me?

A summary of what I've said:

1. Chen used rebranded DSP to fool university and gov officials
2. He was caught
3. Fraud was made public

Wrong.

You insinuated the fraud was found by non-Chinese "systems".

I proved you wrong.

Actually I need to slowly explain this to you. Anonymous tipster may be and in fact most likely is Chinese. Therefore you are wrong in saying fraud was detected by non-Chinese gov/uni etc.

Obvious troll and stupid one too with no basic grasp of logical fallacy. Assumes anon working with and tipping off Chinese gov about a DSP that was only being used in a Chinese uni for prelim testing could be anything other than Chinese.

Out.

You know, I'm starting to get the sneaking suspicion that this is yet another one of the "personalities" of a certain mentally-ill banned user.
Frankly, he sounds more like the gadget a--hole... with similar "google skills", proper language, etc. And yet, he sounded a lot like Tidal in a recent discussion w/ @manqiangrexue. So who knows, buy why are people entertaining him (@ougoah, primarily)?

BTW the anon is actually very well known and isn't a person. They are kept anon in these disclosures because there if you know how China works, there are elements beyond Chen who were in on the fraud. Some of those people are often rather influencial and can do harm to those who work against them. I'd say lifting their scam would be considered harm therefore it's obviously in the interest of government to protect the identity of whoever/whatever group that raised the alarm.

None of this even goes halfway towards suggesting some person/group outside China knew of the scam and tipped them off. They would have no reason to help the CCP like that even if they somehow knew which is impossible! Use your brain. How would anyone outside China know about the scam against SJTU and CCP? and beyond that, also want to help SJTU and CCP?

It's worth exposing this guy's obvious stupidity and destroying his reputation for the nth time.

Hmmmm I don't recall saying 1 at all. Are you perhaps making shit up yet again?

Hailed as a national hero when people believed him. Then they figured it out and he was exposed. I don't get what you're trying to insinuate. He's not a national hero but was held as one when people believed the lies. So what though? That's my question to you. What are you trying to say. Stop being Indian about verbal bs, just say what you want to say so we can have a more worthwhile discussion. Is it that he wasted a lot of government time and resources? You hinted at that but you failed to prove it outside of a how a journalist decided to portray it for drama.

Highlighted for our amusement and your comprehension lesson. BTW this is obvious but you struggle with obvious so let me take this chance to explain that "they figured it out" is referring to the people that exposed the scam. It is kept as ambiguous as the CCP has kept their identities anonymous. It's also rather unimportant but of course because you have no real point to make over three pages, you have to keep the distractions up.

I skipped the entire discussion, just about. What was it, 6 pages? The "guy" posted a news item from 2006, pretending to believe it has some relevance to what is happening now. A couple of pages later, he posted an item from China Daily or People's Daily from the same period, which of course quotes the very same NYTimes article.

His contribution is so obviously irrelevant that I think its best ignored, and most people did. His aim is to wear everyone out... just like Gadgetcool, and I would think he likely belongs to the same farm, if he's not actually the same person. But I think, after 6 pages, the thread is derailed? So I say US "security establishment" 1; ougoah 0, for this round.

I'd say he's the one worn out lol. If the US "security establishment" is sinking this low to distract random netizens, then they've got some serious issues. It's just the random "sophisticated" Indian/FLG troll. I'm familiar with their kind and how they operate. They differ quite obviously from the hillbilly whites and the educated whites (conservative or liberal is easy to figure).

More on topic with some relevance to what the troll posted. Since China's first real domestically developed DSP the HISYS unit from 2003ish, this predates Chen's fraud. Does anyone know what makes Chen's claimed Hanxin program DSP superior or worthy of so much fanfare when people believed in it? I'm assuming its got to do with the Freescale DSP being far superior to the HISYS units developed from 2003 but anyone got more details?

The money got robbed and trust for future semiconductor investment ideas completely lost. The next guy proposing new idea was viewed through the lens of distrust.
It was dead in the water for a while.
This story actually best illustrates the difference between then and now. Without a foreign threat creating the need for self-reliant lithography, this was the kind of fraud zoo that happened in China. Today, major companies and universities are all pushing with real resources and efforts to achieve self-sufficient lithography. It took Trump's attacks to ignite the flame because no Chinese premier could convince Chinese institutions to launch such magnanimous effort. There is no substitute for need.

Any argument that this still negatively affects today is complete nonsense; it was some money 14 years ago. If there is any lasting impact today, it would be to remind potential fraudsters that this trick has already been played and to keep regulators on alert for any potential repeat.

The ghost has to be exorsized.
Your ghost needs to be exorcised from this forum again.
