Like i said before, if they are not collaborating with SMEE and other subsystems providers to have a working, good enough immersion exposure machine working as soon as possible, they are committing suicide.
Yes. No Chinese semiconductor company that is doing a high-end job is safe. They will be targeted. Huawei was targeted with literally everything the US government can think of. In the worst case, they will say the company is getting subsidies or supplying the PLA.

I have a question. If YMTC is barred from US tech thus SME servicing how long they can continue operating? SMEE is far from being able to supply them.

@BoraTas Sir do you think they have stock up spare parts and supply?

If they are added to the "blacklist" probably long enough until the lithography providers in China get the tool working up to standards. They already have a working fab different from Jinhua.
If YMTC is added to same export control list than SMIC will affect mainly U.S. companies specially the big three (KLA, LAM and Applied Materials), is to be seen if ASML can still deliver their scanners with GigaPhoton light sources instead of Cymer. Everything else could be acquired from Chinese, Japanese, Europeans and South Koreans equipment companies.

@tokenanalyst bro my understanding of your post, ASML role is vital?, IF the US do sanction and ASML get a waver, SMIC can function with Japanese, SK and Chinese suppliers? So IF Gigaphoton do follow US diktat can RS laser be a viable replacement?

Fabs typically only stock up on consumable parts but not spare parts. When I was engineer we had tried to have spare parts or tooling onsite, but ASML would not agree. And also price tag is to high to keep spare for all parts. YMTC, like anyone else, including even tsmc, if suppliers choose or are forced to support a fab, won't last longer than a few months. Fabs do not have capability to fix new advanced systems, like scanners. But fabs may be able to figure out how to do PM on less complicated systems like etcher, deposition, etc. but may still not be able to fix all tool problems.

But, most WFE suppliers figure out ways to continue support fabs under US restriction. I think I had mentioned before, some WFE company had build new parts warehouse outside of US where they "refurbish" parts, which could then be used for use at JHICC.

Gigaphoton and Cymer lasers are not interchangeable on ASML scanners. Once configured with one from the factory you have to stick to the original laser configuration. Major modifications required if want to convert Cymer laser scanner to a Gigaphton scanner. I remember making this request and that was ASML response to me.

If ASML decide not to support with Cymer then by that point no reason to believe they will help make scanner compatible with RS Laser

I think ASML only works with Cymer and Gigaphoton, it will have to be some development and heavy workarounds to make ASML tools to work with RSLaser.

@hvpc thanks bro for the explanation, so it's possible IF ASML want to? knowing they owned CYMER why add a competitor , what IF SMIC or the Chinese gov't insists , there is no downside as a way to escape the restriction?
