It is reported that the total investment of Yangheng Chemical's annual production of 90,000 tons of semiconductor-grade high-purity sulfuric acid for ultra-large-scale integrated circuits (Phase II) construction project is 350 million yuan, and the planned use of raised funds will not exceed 194 million yuan. Annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of semiconductor-grade high-purity sulfuric acid for VLSI.

Jingrui Electric Materials believes that the financial assistance provided to Yangheng Chemical this time is due to the construction needs of the "Yangheng Chemical Industry's Annual Production of 90,000 tons of VLSI Semiconductor Grade High-purity Sulfuric Acid Technical Transformation Project (Phase II)", which is conducive to reducing project financing. cost to ensure the smooth implementation of the fundraising project. After the completion of this financial assistance, Jiangsu Yangheng's financial strength and operating ability will be further improved, which will help the company's business development and long-term planning.

to "essentially shut down" SMIC if China doesn't co-operate on sanctioning Russia. How realistic are these threats today? The main pressure points would be litography machines and software tools. I know China has their own companies in both areas but would they be able to substitute Western alternatives if push came to shove? (Obviously there is no Chinese equivalent to ASML so I am not talking about leading-edge tech, but trailing edge stuff).

Not really: The US, Japan and Netherlands can cut off equipment at any moment for any reason.

Ford and GM had to halt production due to chip shortages:

Toyota and VW cut production as well:

And thats last year with China running at full capacity from covid controls.

If China is cut off from semi equipment and supplies, it will result in self inflicted economic carnage that United States and other western countries that haven't been seen in generations. Think, anything that has one of those annoying blue LEDs or a lithium ion battery are likely part of a subcomponent supply chain linked to a Chinese fab. Doesn't have to be fancy, the little microcontroller on those new brushless power tools at hardware stores, the sensor IC that opens the gate to a factory parking lot or the module that separates bad potatoes from good ones on a farm harvester... people don't realize how globalized subcomponents are and how our current western living standards depends on it.

@tokenanalyst bro speaking in layman term, 1nm is a possibility? from my understanding major FAB are the one doing research for commercial purposes, what about Tsinghua University, are they affiliated with Huawei and SMIC?

Yes, i think three of them are part of ICRD in Shanghai, some of the research lead to spin off companies and/or commercialization, that is how its works. U-precision who is developing and selling ultra precision wafer stage tables for lithography machines was a spin off of Tsinghua university.

@antiterror13 Sir thanks for the compliment , I'm flattered and coming from you it really make my day, with that after seeing @tokenanalyst post @Oldschool suggested why not CETC partner with the Russian, it make sense since both are sanction anyway.

Hi
Today I saw US secretary of commerce Raymondo threaten to put Chinese companies out of business especially SMIC if they help out Russia.

Well, my take is if Russia partner up with CETC which is China state enterprise already under sanction, it can circumvent US sanctions.

CETC is do it all state company , not only it has ion implantation but also manufacture DUV lithography.
Previously, I posted CETC 2021 roadmap for lithography production.

Cetc 2021 production roadmap

Cetc production of lithography equipmnent in 2021 is 20 sets including 2 machines for 65nm and rest of 18 for 0.13um, 0.35um. it's 65nm lithography can produce 45nm digital chips.

CETC also a IDM, it does produce chips. It can manufacture for Russia
Almost all military grade chips are produced by CETC.

I have purchased small quantities of chips from Alibaba like 4 pieces of Allwinner and Rockchip SOC. Likewise Russia can purchase off the shelf chips to beat the sanction.

Russia also can partner with Huawei which already under US death list.

US's threat is notwithstanding.

Huawei will have a field day in supplying all the commercial electronics to Russia in next few years from cellphone, 5G infrastructure, desktops, laptop.
Yes i think CETC will eventually supply ICs to Russia. CETC has its own FABS as well which produces Chips for the Military and Space Programs.
CETC is also working on its own 28nm DUVL which will be available soon.

China has already developed localised Semiconductor manufacturing equipment for 45nm, 65nm and 90nm IC production.
This means certain Chinese FABs which use this locally made equipment can supply Russia.
This equipment can also be supplied to Russian FABs to replace their Western Equipment.
Also there is a huge market in China for second hand Semiconductor equipment and parts.
Russian FABS can buy these parts and other consumables like photoresists and gases and operate their current FABS for a long long time.

Western attempts to shut down the Russian Semiconductor Industry will basically just fail.
