Or China just sell or "donate" it to the Russian. Thats in Chinese interest that Russian military stays strong. China may get unlimited access to Russian nuclear subs and few other areas
Call it the Chips for Nukes program... China provide the chips, Russia gives China the nukes (or enriched materials so China can quickly ramp up to at least a more comfortable margin of credible MAD deterrence etc)

From a Mainland publication, I had seen this article and holding it for the past 3 days, IF true then SMIC really has received the ASML NXT 2050i DUVL capable of producing 5nm. Will it be ready for Huawei return of the King in 2023, its too optimistic, my hunch they will use Hisilicon 14nm 3D chiplet or SMIC 7nm N+2.

SMIC's 5nm process is in play!Process miniaturization is not the only development direction of chips in the future

With the technical blockade of the beautiful country, access to advanced EUV lithography machines in the mainland has been blocked, making the outside world think that the production process of the chip has no choice but to stay at 28 nanometers. However, Lin Benjian, the father of TSMC's semiconductor process lithography technology recently, believes that even without the most advanced EVU lithography machine, SMIC can still achieve mass production of 5nm process chips using existing equipment.

According to previous media reports, Liang Mengsong, the co-CEO of SMIC, revealed that SMIC has already achieved mass production of 28nm, 12nm, and N+1 processes, and the 7nm process has also been developed. It is expected this year You can achieve risky mass production. According to Lin Benjian, the next process technology announced by SMIC will be 5 nanometers.

Speaking of the future development direction of chip manufacturing, Lin Benjian believes that the future will not always move in the direction of process scaling, because the cost of the process below 2 nanometers will be quite expensive, and the process of chip scaling is not the only direction.

In this way, if SMIC really realizes the 5nm process technology, Huawei will really "return with lightning" in 2023. Hope all this is true.

Do not count on it. N+2 i.e. 7nm is bound to happen true.
But US is now blocking access to multiple exposition ArF equipment to SMIC also. Not just EUV.
TSMC already had to stop planned expansion of 16nm production in China into 28nm.

SMIC was already treatened with sanctions in case they continue supplying Huawei. They had to stop manufacturing Huawei 14nm SoC because of this. Zero chance of SMIC 5nm Huawei chip production.

The are not blocked from buying DUV even ASML most recent one. Some in the U.S. are proposing to blocking it but is something the the Holland government oppose for now because they fear they will lose market share to Nikon who is desperate to enter the Chinese market to save their dying lithography business.

@tokenanalyst bro what's your opinion regarding my previous post, My feeling is that Huawei will use Hisilicon 14nm 3D chiplet for its midrange phone in 2023, BUT if SMIC is planning to produced its 7nm N+2 who are its client?

EUV also wasn't blocked. But they dragged and dragged their feet delivering it. And then whoops.
