Interesting video regarding Chinese semiconductor equipment

In this video SMIC CEO Zhao HaiJun said something important. He says that recently he met someone who is building a new fab, they plan to purchase a large percent of domestic equipment. They told Zhao that any domestic equipment that is already proven on SMIC production line they will just buy without question, equipment that have not proven yet will request manufacture to send one to test on.

Zhao stress that if a new fab plan to buy many domestic equipments,it is important to contact the equipment manufacture 3 years prior to the fab construction work done. Because most of domestic equipments are new products unlike those mature tools from MNCs,fabs and tool manufactures need to work together to test and iterate these new tools for years,so these tools will be matured enough by the time fab construction is complete. If a fab only starts to buy tools in the last minutes, they won't have the luxury to test new domestic tools, and will likely buy proven tools from MNCs instead.

That sad part is that pundits in the United States wants to ASML that is not even a U.S. company to face the economic brunt of sanctions to China while U.S. companies AM, KLA, LAM can keep reaping billions from China because "their equipment is not that important" or "China already produce those" or "They will buy it from elsewhere". Imagine how the Europeans feel.
But a key component supplier, that of the light source for EUV, Cymer, is an American company. Besides that, the United States has already demonstrated its ability to prevent its allies from allowing their companies to do business with China in ways that the United States does not want it to. It will continue to do so indefinitely. The United States only relents when it becomes clear that China does possess import substitution capabilities that can ensure it can replace - if it wants to - imports that the United States does not want China to have, with domestic alternatives of very comparable and even better quality.

They will still go ahead with the LPP/DPP.
In China they always make sure that there are several options to ensure success.
But it appears that Tsinghua Uni is quite confident in building this SSMB Light Source and getting it to work.
There are also no patent issues with this new technology.
The Power can also easily be scaled up and in the long term it has more potential.
What is SSMB? I know that LPP is laser produced plasma and DPP is discharged produced plasma.

Light source from accelerated electrons. Proposed device is similar to
but smaller.

But a key component supplier, that of the light source for EUV, Cymer, is an American company.

A loss to Cymer is still a loss to ASML. Even though Cymer is headquartered in the US, it is a private company 100% owned by ASML. On the other hand KLA, LAM and AMAT are US publicly traded companies. I think the main leverage US has over ASML is the EUV patents currently used by ASML (owned by USG), rather than Cymer operations being based at US.
