Chinese purchase of Su-35

I want to know, is there anything that China would be interested in buying from Russia today?

All I can think of is IL-76, and maybe newest S-300 series SAM, and maybe some subsystems which we don't know about. But is there any area that Russia military industry still have clear advantage over China's?

To be more specific, 2nd hand IL-76, and only if they're cheap enough. PLA won't be buying any new IL-76 from Russia even if they still can be produced. As for the next gen big transport, Y20 will likely go into service before IL476 and with better performances.

So far as I know, PLA doesn't buy secondhand stuff, So no deal.

As long as IL-476 can get into production earlier than Y-20 and have production slot for PLAAF, China will order it.

As for Su-35, I think China probably has inquired about it in low quantity, because they want to get 117S engine, but Russia would not sell in small quantity. So, you continuously have these news coming out.

why would china abandon y-20 just to purchase more russian stuff ?? Those new russian planes will be expensive as hell. If the il-76 were already so, imagine now.

As for 117S, these are only rumours. forget it.

Without the big traditional customers like China and India, where will the Russians find market for their flankers? Will Venezuela be a potential big customers? Beside that I can only think of Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia whose purchase power are relatively small.
Brazil, Argentina, Columbia and Iran are options. Especially the Latin American card could replace a major customer as these are likely to have joint orders.

Honestly, Russia, India and China could profit a lot from cooperation. Let make each of them one system in a field they are terribly good at and exchange it with the others. This way you don't need to invent the wheel 2-3 times and get much closer to the US that has a tradition of always building 2 platinum plated wheels in order to get most money for least work.

This recalls me a theory in the economics class "trade makes everybody better off" but I doubt they would compete each other rather than cooperation. First, they don't really trust each other; the Indian always see China as a threat and the Russian always see China as a copycat that will copy everything it provides. Secondly, the Russians are too greedy like an extortioner rather than a reliable supplier. Examples would China's Il-76 project and Indian carrier project. Lastly, everyone want to be self-reliant and would not give out their own military secrete.

They won't abandon Y-20. They just badly need large transports, so if the Russians can fill PLAAF requirement until domestic production ramps up, there is no reason not to buy some.

As far as I can think of, there is only 1 area where Russia military technology have clear advantage of China's, that is submarine quieting technology.

Anyone else agree, disagree? Or can you think of other areas where Russia can still teach China a thing or two.

It's quite difficult to tell if Russia has any more advantages in technology these days. This especially becomes apparent when they're turning to the French for amphibious assault vessels. Perhaps in terms of advanced surface to air missile or radar technology.
