Chinese purchase of Su-35

OK, now it looks that China indeed bought the Su-35's. I admit that I made the wrong conclusion earlier.

With that said, I still think it's a wrong move. Again, not about ego, not about pride. It's about the program, to quote Equation. And they should throw away the crutches, not getting new ones, at this point, if their ambition is about independent weapons development.

Of course, it might also be because of other political factors. But that would be another matter completely.

I think many of you are forgetting that this deal was originally conceived in late 2010/2011 and China's interest in the 35 went even many years before that.

As we are all aware, China's military aviation has taken a monumental leap in the past decade so it is not hard to imagined why at that time SU 35 WOULD have been the most advanced weaponry in the Chinese arsenal.

As to the whys of the delay or why China didn't outright canceled the deal etc. I'm sure politics, corporate/governmental red tapes and contractual agreements played a major role therefore to speculate as to the whys IMHO is rather moot and unproductive unless some really interesting news crops up pertaining to that purchase.

The questions we need to ask ourselves here is these 24 birdies are now PLAAF's.. what will they be doing to it? Aggressor squadrons, modifications to fit Chinese link systems, replace with Chinese avionics etc?

Yano, I wonder if it's possible that the reason the deal stretched so long was because once the Chinese side decided they didn't need the bird they tried to string out other concessions that would be more beneficial to them (like the recent announcement on collaboration over engines). Without a detail like that it would be unusual for a deal like this to have taken this much time and crossed both sides of limbo so often.

Small victory for small troll.
A victory is a victory, the size of it is which side you are, if you are in the loser`s side you see it small
